Coming in regularly also allows us to check for periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is asymptomatic bone loss and generally cannot be seen without x-rays. Early detection is key to managing periodontal disease because bone loss is irreversible and can lead to tooth loss. The bacteria present in periodontal disease will also enter the bloodstream through normal eating and drinking. This bacteria can lead to other health problems or complicate pre-existing conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
