Tuesday Toy Tips! - Bubbles! 🫧
When playing with bubbles, here are some strategies and target words:
🫧Labeling/commenting: talk about what you see during play or what is happening!
🫧Expanding/adding: Say the words again and again.
Try repetitions during play, such as "pop, pop, pop"
🫧Communication temptations: Bubbles can be hard for kids to open or blow themselves. Let them try to open it or blow the bubbles. If they hand it to you for help, they are making a request! Model "open" or "help me".
🫧Pausing: Hold up the bubble wand and wait! Your child may look at you, make a gesture or use verbal speech to show you they want the bubbles. Once they show you that, you can say or sign the words they are looking for, such as, "go", "more", "blow", etc.
Suggested target words:
Core words- see, more, yes/no, help, like, want, etc.
Verbs- open, dip in, blow, pop, etc.
Play sounds/words- wow, pop, uh oh, ahh, etc
