๐ง We wanted to give our patients a heads up, construction has resumed in front of our practice, on North Ankeny Boulevard. There is an alternate route available to still access the clinic.
Below is information regarding the current construction projects in our area, we apologize for the inconvenience. ๐ง
Construction season has arrived with several major infrastructure projects now underway or beginning soon.
๐ง Stage 1 of the Street Reconstruction Program โ NW 9th Street started today. During the Stage 1, NW 9th Street will be closed from about 60 feet west of NW Logan Street to just east of the schools southern entrance. Work includes pavement reconstruction, street widening, stormwater upgrades, ADA compliant sidewalk ramps, and minor water main replacement. Stage 1 is expected to be completed in 3 months.
๐ง East First Street pavement patching is one of several projects under the 2026 Street Patching Program. Patching on East First Street between Ankeny Boulevard and Delaware Avenue will start this week and will last until late May, weather permitting. During this time, there will be periodic lane closures in either the inside or outside lane for both eastbound and westbound traffic.
๐ง Next week, the contractor for the NW Irvinedale Drive and NW 18th Street Intersection Improvements project will return to complete the remaining work on this project. This includes some patching of pavement on the north and south ends of the construction limits, permanent sealing of the street, permanent pavement markings, and final backfilling, grading, and seeding of all disturbed areas. All work will be completed while the intersection is open to traffic, with the occasional lane closure during the day with flaggers present. There will be no road closures and no detours. Work is expected to be completed over the next five weeks, weather permitting.
๐ง Work on the South Ankeny Boulevard Improvements โ SE Peterson Drive to First Street project begins this week. This is a joint project with the City and Iowa Department of Transportation. Expect lane closures on South Ankeny Boulevard. All utilities (storm/sanitary/water/fiber) and pavement (street/driveway/sidewalk) within the South Ankeny Boulevard corridor from SE Peterson Drive to First Street will be replaced over the course of the next two years. Dedicated left turn lanes and right turn lanes will be placed at the major intersections. A raised median will be installed from just north of SE Peterson Drive to just south of Third Street.
These projects are part of the Cityโs Capital Improvement Program (CIP), a five year plan that guides how we maintain and improve streets, utilities, parks, and other public infrastructure.
