Hi Fam. Today’s a big day. I’m one of the nominees for entrepreneur of impact and the voting has started. This would be really life-changing for both myself, my staff & clients at Kind Laser Skin & Wellness & our community.

Today I’d like to tell you a little bit more about myself & Kind and our message to the world. I’ve been working in the aesthetic industry for over 20 years. Prior to the pandemic, I had almost decided to give up on this industry, mostly because I felt the love was not there. The things that I cared about weren’t happening. It was all about sales. It was all about targeting people‘s insecurities and making huge profits for corporate owners. That wasn’t what I signed up for.
So five years ago during a global pandemic I decided that it was time to bring the care and compassion back to aesthetics. I knew then that there was a lot of pain, frustration, and uncertainty in the current systems in place. I believe that so much more could be done and we could make it a lot better here. It’s one thing to vocalize what you think is possible, but I knew that if I was gonna stand on my soapbox, I had to be willing to put everything on the line for it. This is how Kind - Laser, Skin & Wellness was born. I worked three jobs and put it all on credit cards so that I could create the “Kind” of business that I believe businesses should be.
Every detail was planned with love and the intention to be inclusive, accessible, help those that need it in my community, and inspire others to do the same.
I made sure the office was handicap accessible, located directly outside of public transportation, had great parking, and supported women in minorities by selling local skin care and products, showcasing the artwork of local women and minorities, and working with all locally owned companies.
I knew that we were at a turning point and folks were beginning to be conscious of spending with their values. My motto is “Self-care that cares for others” I’ll dive deeper on this in the next few days, but I believe that healthy skin and feeling confident is for everyone. I believe everyone should feel safe and welcome in my space. So before I even opened my doors I set up mutual aid systems to make that happen. I offer a free basic skin care and hygiene kit to anyone in need. We also became a period positive outreach location, which means that our restroom is fully stocked with pads, tampons, and more that are free for anyone at any time just come in and take what you need. We now also offer free Plan B and some safe s*x supplies, as well as a variety of free harm reduction items.
Then I decided to go even further and do things that no one in my industry has ever done. I knew that opening this business was going to give me the opportunity to change a lot of lives so I have vowed to do as many things as I can in order to do that.
In five years, I’ve given away over 1000 free services to folks in our community. Here are some of the things we’ve done: We’ve given -
*200 Free Back to school skincare kits for teens.
*200 Free blue light acne treatments for teens.

*Volunteered my time to speak to students at Beautiful Luxe Cosmetology School, Douglas J Aveda School, and Ozone house.
*Been a sponsor for Trans Pride In Park, Ann Arbor, pride, Ypsi pride,
*Supported the arts by sponsoring Holy Bones, and several local burlesque shows, let local photographers and serveral women owned businesses use our space & hosted pop ups for several local artists at Kind absolutely FREE!
* Hosted the first ever Mother’s Day mutual aid party for Mom’s in our community and gave over 100 free gift certificates for services.
*Hosted the first ever holiday shopping event in 2025 for single moms in our community where everything in the store was 100% free of charge and we also gave out over 150 gift certificates for free services.
*continuously provide a safe, inclusive space and gender affirming care for all humans.
This list isn’t complete, but you get the picture. Change as possible. There were no corporate sponsors, no small business loans, but I did it. Really though, WE did it because without your support none of this would have been possible. Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for believing in me, in Kind and in our mission to make the world a better place through skin care and self care. Please consider voting for me for the entrepreneur of impact award. Thank you so much.
