After losing her twin sister, Karen Ann felt the immense weight of profound loss—a loss she didn't know how to comprehend.

As the two-year anniversary approaches, she reflects on her grief journey and the support she received from Arbor Hospice, sharing her story of learning, growing, and understanding.

Read her powerful story of grief and healing here:

"My twin sister, Kathleen Ann, died nearly 2 years ago, shortly after we "celebrated" our birthday together. Kathy received her cancer diagnosis on March 4, 2024, after spending 10 long days in the hospital.

Having lost her ability to respond, I decided the only way to reach her was to not leave her..."

🔍 Know the signs. Get the right support sooner.

If your loved one or patient is experiencing any of these, it may be time to talk about palliative or hospice care:
1️⃣ Increasing falls
2️⃣ More help needed for everyday tasks
3️⃣ Unexplained weight loss
4️⃣ Repeated ER visits or hospital stays
5️⃣ Health declining despite treatment
6️⃣ Symptoms that are hard to manage

Palliative care can start early alongside any treatment to improve comfort and quality of life. Hospice is there when comfort becomes the priority.

Grief touches us in many ways—emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

With Arbor Hospice’s Grief Journey program, you can access guidance, community, and practical tools to help you move through loss.

Reactions may include crying, withdrawal, restlessness, changes in appetite, or shifts in faith. These responses aren’t a timeline—give yourself permission to grieve, rest, and seek support. If you’re supporting someone, offer a listening presence.
