Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is an approach to care that puts the patient at the center and addresses the full range of physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental influences that affect a person's health. Employing a personalized strategy that considers the patient's unique conditions, needs and circumstances. Integrative medicine uses the most appropriate interventions from an array of scientific disciplines to heal illness and disease and help people regain and maintain optimal health. Healthcare is seen as a partnership between patient and practitioner, where together they seek to find the best therapeutic approaches to each patient's condition. A broad range of treatment options may be considered, including herbal therapies, acupuncture, manual therapy (massage, chiropractic), homeopathy and energy work (Reiki, polarity, craniosacral therapy), and treatment choices are based on scientific evidence as well as practitioner experience and patient preference. Naturopathic Medicine

Licensed naturopathic doctors are general practitioners specializing in natural medicine. They attend a 4 year post-graduate medical school and they receive both basic science and clinical education. Their training is based in Western biomedical science and integrates natural modalities such as botanical medicine, nutrition and homeopathy. Naturopathic doctors specialize in evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine, bridging conventional and holistic medicine. Naturopathic medicine is beneficial for many health conditions, including, but not limited to:

Adrenal fatigue, allergies, stress and mental/emotional conditions. Hormone abnormalities (thyroid disease, diabetes, menopausal or menstrual symptoms)
GI disorders (Inflammatory bowel disease, Irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, gasroblems)
Cardiovascular disease
Immune disorders (autoimmune disease, cancer, frequent colds or flu)
General wellness and disease prevention

Acupuncture

The world's oldest continuously practiced medicine, acupuncture was first developed in China over 4,000 years ago. The practice has been significantly refined over the centuries, but retains its fundamental philosophical basis. Today, over two billion people worldwide use acupuncture for primary healthcare or to complement Western medical treatment. Acupuncture can be used to treat many different kinds of health issues. While it's effectiveness in alleviating pain is well-known and widely documented by sources as diverse as the World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health, of equal significance is the power of acupuncture to address chronic conditions, including but not limited to:

headaches
sleep disturbances
menstrual, fertility, and other gynecological issues
chronic fatigue, stress related disorders, depression and anxiety
digestive disorders and bowel problems
asthma, allergies and sinus issues
muscle pain and spasm, joint pain, and sciatica
lowered immunity and cancer and chemotherapy support

Low Level Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the application of red and near infrared light over injuries or lesions to improve wound and soft tissue healing, reduce inflammation and give relief to both acute and chronic pain. The effects of LLLT are photochemical (like photosynthesis in plants) . When the correct intensity and treatment times are used, red and near infrared light reduces oxidative stress and increases ATP (energy) production. This improves cell metabolism and reduces inflammation. LLLT is often used for soft tissue injuries, joint conditions, neuropathic pain, non-healing leg and pressure ulcers. There is a great deal of research literature which has confirmed its beneficial effects. A meta-analysis of 16 randomized controlled trials of LLLT for neck pain published in The Lancet indicated it is beneficial for reducing pain immediately in acute injury and treatment for chronic pain is effective up to 22 weeks after treatment.
