November is COPD Awareness Month.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects millions of people and can make procedures more challenging. At A4, our anesthesia providers take extra precautions to ensure patients with respiratory conditions are safe and comfortable.

We carefully evaluate each patient’s lung function, customize anesthesia plans, and closely monitor breathing and oxygen levels throughout procedures. By anticipating potential complications and adjusting care as needed, we help patients with COPD undergo surgery with confidence and support optimal outcomes.

Your safety is our priority — because every breath matters. 💙

Patient FAQ: Will I remember my surgery?

Most patients do not remember their surgery, especially if receiving general anesthesia, which puts you into a controlled, temporary sleep. This ensures you are comfortable, pain-free, and unaware during the procedure.

For procedures with regional or local anesthesia, you may be awake but sedated and relaxed, often feeling little to no discomfort. Our anesthesia team carefully monitors your vital signs and comfort level throughout the surgery.

After the procedure, some patients experience grogginess, mild confusion, or drowsiness, but these effects are temporary. Our staff is with you during recovery to ensure you wake up safely and comfortably, answer your questions, and manage any post-operative symptoms.

Your safety, comfort, and peace of mind are our top priorities every step of the way. đź’™
