Enhanced advance premium tax credits (eAPTCs) help make health care coverage more affordable by lowering monthly premiums for millions of Americans. Critically, 1 in 6 people who get these credits have used their coverage for mental health benefits. Without Congressional action, eAPTCs will expire at the end of the year and drive-up monthly costs for families nationwide. This will force people to choose between spending money on their health coverage or other essential needs.
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote today (Thursday) on different health-focused proposals. One thing is certain: if Congress doesn’t act to extend these important health coverage tax credits immediately, millions will lose coverage of lifesaving mental health care.
