American Foundation for Su***de Prevention: Strong Talk with Vic Armstrong 💙

Mental health conversations are growing within the Black community—but systemic barriers still limit access to care.

In this Black History Month episode of Strong Talk, host Vic Armstrong sits down with Shahem McLaurin—a Black, genderqueer licensed clinical social worker, therapist, and influencer—to unpack the root causes of mental health disparities and explore how collective care and strong community can help close the gap.

Shahem also reflects on their journey through graduate school, confronting inequities embedded in social work education, and reclaiming an insult to create a powerful brand: Dr. Durag.
