BOD4GOD HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
I remember so well, when I weighed nearly 350 pounds, that during the holidays I would STUFF MYSELF with all kinds of holiday goodies.
The hard part was it tasted so good going down. But made me feel even MORE MISERABLE after it was over. Do you know the feeling?
I actually made the decision to start my Bod4God lifestyle right in the middle of the holidays. I WAS SICK AND TIRED OF FEELING SICK AND TIRED.
I resolved that I wasn’t going to wait until the new year to start adopting a Bod4God lifestyle. The time for change was NOW!
It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t perfect (and still isn’t), but I took on the challenge of having a healthier Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Holiday parties and family gatherings include a lot of delicious food. But most of them are high-calorie choices. The reality is you are not going to escape it. The key is to manage your choices and MANAGE THEM WELL.
The good news is that it’s possible to ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY MEALS, but not to overindulge.
Here are a few BOD4GOD TIPS that will help you:
EAT SLOWLY and really savor each mouthful. God blessed you with 10,000 taste buds, so maximize the enjoyment. BUT TAKE YOUR TIME EATING. This is one of the easiest ways to enjoy your holiday meals and not go overboard.
WATCH YOUR PORTION SIZES. It’s very easy to overload your plate. A simple remedy is to USE A SMALLER PLATE. And be mindful of what you put on your plate especially with adding protein and limiting carbs..
STAY HYDRATED by drinking plenty of water. Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking you’re hungry when you may just be thirsty. And LIMIT LIQUID CALORIES in sugary drinks.
WAIT BEFORE GOING BACK FOR SECONDS. You may be tempted to get more food, but waiting 20 minutes can help the craving pass and eliminate unnecessary calories.
BE ACTIVE with family and friends. Sitting on the couch and watching TV or other screens is a common holiday tradition. But how about also doing a WALK TOGETHER to burn off some calories and bond with loved ones?
The number one tip is to RELY ON GOD. You are not alone in this battle. God cares about YOU. He also cares about what you eat. He will help. Pray for strength and guidance.
The new year is around the corner. A new season is coming. It will be full of opportunities to serve God and make a difference in this world, and to create new memories with your friends and family.
PRACTICE THESE TIPS NOW and imagine how much better you will feel as you enter a new year.
