Self-confidence doesnāt come from others. Itās not āgivenā to you externally.
Self-confidence is the happy by-product of mastering a new skill you didnāt have before. Learning something you didnāt know. Trying and failing, and trying again and again, untilā¦you can DO it.
Whatever āitā is, youāve now gained another new skill or piece of knowledge that strengthens & makes you a better YOU.
And you feel proud.
Sure of yourself.
A little more - wait for it - CONFIDENT than you were yesterday.
And the best part? No one can ever take your new skill away. Itās part of YOU. You earned it. Itās your truth. Itās real. Every time you face something that requires that new skill, you can say āIāve got thisā, because now you truly do.
Just think: When kids learn to tie their shoes, write their name, or ride a bike, whatās the first thing they say? āLook, I DID it!ā They feel proud because they pushed themselves out of their comfort zone, tried something new, and discovered a little bit more about themselves in the process. Hooray!
Thatās the definition of self-confidence š
The joy, excitement and sense of self-worth of skillsā acquisition never goes away. Every time we try, fail, persevere and eventually succeed, we add another self-confident brick into our personal sense of self. We discover our gifts, face our fears, and build our own agency.
And thatās good news for all of usā¦at ANY age šŖ
Think of all the things you can do. Isnāt it amazing?!? You are a master of SO many skillsā¦so if youāre feeling a little low, take stock of what you CAN do and pat yourself on the back for being so incredible.
You donāt need anyone else to tell you how miraculous and special you are. Let your list of skills & talents be your own reminder.
