I Am Flame

I am flame.

Not loud.
Not demanding.
Just present.

A quiet warmth
in the center of my own chest.

I do not rush the dark away.
I simply shine,
and let the shadows soften.

I am the small light
left on for someone coming home.

I am the candle
that stays lit
through long nights.

I flicker when the wind brushes close,
but I do not disappear.
Even when I grow small,
there is still heat within me.

I warm what is near.
I illuminate what is ready.
I transform gently,
in time.

I do not have to roar
to be powerful.

I do not have to prove
that I burn.

I am steady.
I am tender.
I am enough.

I am flame
and I glow
without fear.
