As rural labor and delivery units close, emergency departments are increasingly called upon to manage obstetric emergencies—often without specialized training.

Texas A&M Health is addressing this growing need by bringing mobile obstetric simulation training directly to rural hospitals across the state—strengthening ER teams and improving outcomes for mothers and newborns.

This OB emergency simulation program was developed by the Texas A&M College of Nursing and the Texas A&M Health Rural and Community Health Institute as part of the legislatively funded Rural Engagement Program.

Over the last two days, our team had the opportunity to participate in this emergency simulation program. We are incredibly grateful for the program and for the valuable education and hands-on training provided to our staff.

We came together today to celebrate and wish Lynda Owens a very happy retirement after 25 years of dedicated service at AGH. Lynda has been a true mainstay of our medical records office, and her presence will be deeply missed. Thank you, Lynda, for your years of service—you have made a lasting impact on all of us.
