😷🍵 Flu Season Friday: Stay Ready So You Don’t Have to Get Ready 🍵😷

Flu season is in full swing, which means it’s the perfect time to show your immune system a little extra love. 💜

🩺 Flu-Smart Tips:
Here are a few simple ways to protect yourself and your loved ones:

Wash those hands like you mean it

20 seconds with soap and water (hum “Happy Birthday” twice).

Use hand sanitizer when you can’t get to a sink.

Hands off the face

Try not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth—that’s how a lot of germs sneak in.

Cover coughs & sneezes

Use a tissue or cough into your elbow, not your hands.

Toss tissues right away and wash your hands after.

Boost your basics

Drink plenty of water

Get good sleep (your immune system loves rest!)

Eat nourishing foods with color: fruits, veggies, soups

Know when to stay home

Fever, body aches, chills, or a bad cough?

Rest up, check in with your doctor, and avoid exposing others.

💉 Flu Shot Reminder:
The flu vaccine doesn’t guarantee you won’t get sick, but it can help lower your risk and may make symptoms milder. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if it’s right for you.

😄 Flu Season Joke:
“Why did the germ cross the microscope?”
…To get to the other slide. 🦠😂

💜 Need a little extra help this flu season?
Loving Home Care can support with:

Medication reminders

Grocery and pharmacy runs

Light housekeeping & disinfecting high-touch areas

Warm meals, comfort, and companionship

Senior healthcare is shifting. It’s no longer just about managing symptoms; it’s about proactive wellness and thriving at every age.

🍎 Personalized Nutrition: Fueling your body for energy and bone health.

🚶 Daily Movement: Staying active keeps your heart strong and your mind sharp.

Your "golden years" should be exactly that—golden. Have you talked to your doctor lately about a personalized wellness plan?

🍫💜 National Chocolate-Covered Anything Day!

Today’s a sweet excuse to brighten the week—strawberries, pretzels, popcorn… whatever makes you smile 😄 If you’re with a loved one, try a quick little dip party (fruit, pretzels, or graham crackers in melted chocolate) and make a cozy memory.

And a fun bonus: in moderation, dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa) can be a better-choice treat since cocoa contains flavanols (antioxidants) linked to supporting healthy blood vessel function and small improvements in blood pressure for some people—just keep an eye on sugar and choose what fits your health needs.

And if you’d love your day to feel even cozier and sweeter, Loving Home Care is here to help with the everyday support that makes room for those moments—personal care, companionship, light housekeeping, errands, medication reminders, and respite for families.

Let’s Talk About UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections)

UTIs are common in older adults and can become serious if they’re missed.

What is a UTI? A UTI is an infection in any part of the urinary system—kidneys, bladder, or urethra. It’s usually caused by bacteria.

🚨 Common Signs & Symptoms to Watch For

Typical symptoms:

-Burning or pain when urinating
-Feeling like you need to urinate often, even if only a little comes out
-Cloudy, dark, or strong-smelling urine
-Blood in the urine
-Pain or pressure in the lower belly or back

In many seniors, symptoms can look different and may include:

-Sudden confusion or “not acting like themselves”
-More tired than usual or very weak
-New or increased falls
-Loss of appetite
-Chills or fever

If you notice these changes—especially more than one at the same time—it’s important to reach out to a doctor or nurse.

✅ Prevention Tips

Encourage drinking plenty of water (unless the doctor has restricted fluids)

-Regular bathroom visits—don’t “hold it” too long
-Wipe from front to back after using the restroom
-Change incontinence briefs regularly and keep the area clean and dry
-Avoid heavily scented soaps or sprays in the ge***al area
-For those with diabetes, help keep blood sugar as well controlled as possible

💗 How Loving Home Care Helps
At Loving Home Care, our caregivers are trained to notice early changes—like confusion, bathroom changes, or unusual fatigue—and quickly share concerns with families and nurses. We provide gentle, dignified support to help seniors stay safe and comfortable at home.

Loving Home Care: Investing in Mental Health First Aid 💚

Loving Home Care is proud to share that our Administrator and Director of Care, Aisha Lbhalla, is attending a 2-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification course this week.

This marks her second recertification in MHFA and reflects our ongoing commitment to understanding, supporting, and responding to mental health needs with compassion and skill.

At Loving Home Care, we believe that our minds are just as important as our bodies. Mental health deserves the same care, attention, and respect as physical health with no shame and no stigma attached.

Mental Health First Aid training strengthens how we:

💛 Support individuals and families who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges

🩺 In business – to show up more confidently and compassionately for our clients and their families, especially when emotional or behavioral changes show up.

👩🏾‍⚕️ With caregivers and staff – to recognize burnout, stress, or mental health challenges and respond in a way that is supportive, not dismissive.

🌍 Show up as a calm, informed, and supportive presence for the seniors, adults with disabilities, and community members we serve

As needs change over time — whether you’re noticing new behaviors, mood changes, or new care needs for yourself or a loved one — Loving Home Care is here to help you navigate the next step with Peace of Mind Care.

Happy National Cookie Day from Loving Home Care! 🍪💗

Some people count memories in years… we count them in cookies.
Whether you’re a senior who still bakes from that secret family recipe, a caregiver sneaking a cookie between visits, or a family member dropping off a favorite treat — today is for you.

Here’s our National Cookie Day wish for you:
🥛 A warm drink in your favorite chair
🍪 A plate of cookies (store-bought totally counts!)
😊 A good laugh with someone you love

And if baking is part of your happy place…
👩‍🍳 Our Loving Home Care caregivers can lend a hand in the kitchen — from gathering ingredients to reading recipes and safely baking your favorite cookies together. We love being part of those sweet moments, not just the serious ones.

Because cookies aren’t just sweets — they’re little moments of comfort, stories shared at the kitchen table, and crumbs of joy that bring us together.

👉 Comment and tell us:
What’s your favorite cookie — and who first made it for you?

From our Loving Home Care family to yours:
May your day be warm, your heart full, and your cookie jar never empty. 💕

Basket of Blessings 2025 – Recap Video

Our Basket of Blessings Thanksgiving outreach was a beautiful success. This week we were able to:

*Meet at the office and have our caregivers pick up full Thanksgiving meal kits to take home
*Provide some caregivers and client with chicken and pies so they could still enjoy a special holiday meal
*Deliver chicken and pies directly to our clients’ homes
*And on Thanksgiving Day, make sure several clients received full meals prepared and delivered right to their door

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jumbo Smokes, owned by Brian Freeman, for the delicious prepared Thanksgiving meals. Your partnership helped us make sure our clients felt seen, loved, and cared for this holiday.

A very special shout-out to Caregiver Tiiesha, who personally delivered meals to several clients’ homes on Thanksgiving Day. Your compassion and dedication truly embodied the spirit of Loving Home Care. 💛

We look forward to continuing efforts like Basket of Blessings and finding meaningful ways to give back to our caregivers and clients and satisfy unmet needs, one family at a time.

11/27/2025

Today, as many of us gather around tables filled with food, I’m reminded that Thanksgiving is about more than what’s on our plates. It’s about the simple gifts we often overlook—breath, movement, memory, connection, and the people who help us through each day.

At Loving Home Care, we have the honor of serving those whose health is no longer at its best—seniors and individuals living with chronic conditions, disabilities, or the effects of aging. Every day, we are reminded that health is truly wealth and that when health changes, compassion, patience, and support matter more than ever.

This Thanksgiving, we’re especially thankful for:

The clients who trust us to walk alongside them

The families who love fiercely and keep showing up

The caregivers who give their hearts, not just their hands

As you celebrate today, I invite you to go beyond the food and:

Call or visit an elder in your life

Check on a neighbor who may be alone

Offer a kind word or thank you to a caregiver

Take a quiet moment to be grateful for your own health—whatever it looks like today

From our Loving Home Care family to yours: Happy Thanksgiving and may your day be filled with gratitude, gentle moments, and the reminder that caring for one another is one of the deepest blessings we share.

Our Story

Loving Home Care is a small family service dedicated to helping seniors receive quality, safe, affordable care all in the comfort of home.

At Loving Home Care we desire a personal relationship with our clients. As an administrator, I personally perform routine calls and visits to ensure that Loving Home Care is meeting the needs of our clients.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality of home care that is trustworthy, safe, and affordable. We treat your loved ones like family, with the dignity, respect, and consideration they deserve as if we are caring for our own loved ones.

Loving Home Care developed out of a desire to help others. While growing up, my mother who was a nurse would occasionally take me to visit her elderly patients in the nursing home. Many had few visits because their families were busy or lived away. These visits with my mom are memories that have remained with me.
