Sometimes the best “restraint” is just mom’s arms 🤗

Fig came to see us for what looked like an eye infection, and while he was a little nervous for his exam…he knew exactly where he felt safest. Straight into mom’s arms.

At about 40 pounds, he may not technically be a baby…but don’t tell him that. 😉

This is something we want pet owners to know: not every patient will stand perfectly still and that’s okay. We adjust. We pivot. We meet them where they’re comfortable.

Sometimes that means:
✔️ Sitting on the floor
✔️ Taking a few extra minutes
✔️ Letting them stay in a lap
✔️ Teaming up with mom or dad

Our goal isn’t just to “get it done.” It’s to make the experience as low-stress as possible while still giving them the care they need.

And if that means a 40lb “lap dog” exam…we’re all for it. 💛

And just when we thought Maye’s story couldn’t get any sweeter…🥹 🐾 The day before we saw Maye for her spay, we met one of her nine chocolate babies.

Meet Gracie. 🤎

Gracie came in for her very first exam with her new family. She's happy, healthy, and soaking up all the love. What makes this so special?

We had no idea when we posted those 9 tiny chocolate puppies weeks ago that one of them would end up with one of our very own clients. And then, by complete coincidence, we saw daughter and mama just one day apart.

From whelping foster…to first puppy exams…to forever homes.

Sometimes we get to be a small part of really big, beautiful stories.

Do you remember the 9 chocolate lab mix puppies we posted about a month ago? 🤎 Well…this is their mama.

Meet Ruthie — now officially renamed Maye 💕

Several months ago, Maye entered the foster system with Peak Lab Rescue, and her now-owner tried to adopt her. What no one knew at the time? She was pregnant.

Instead of going home right away, Maye went to a whelping foster, delivered nine beautiful chocolate babies, and raised them until they were fully weaned and ready for their own families. (Yes — the same adorable chocolate crew we saw for their intakes 🥹.)

After her puppies were taken care of, it was finally Maye’s turn. She came to see us for her rescue spay — a little nervous, but so, so brave. She got plenty of love (including loving snuggles), recovered beautifully, and is now right where she was always meant to be...With her new family.

And if the matching pink harness and pink sweater don’t scream “meant to be,” we don’t know what does. 💗

From rescue…to motherhood…to finally being someone’s baby.

This is why we love working with rescues. We don’t just see procedures, we get to witness journeys.

Happy forever, Maye. 💕

A little recap from our first Vet-Ed with 🦷 🐾

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Southline Brewing talking all things pet dental health — prevention, cleanings, at-home care, and answering great questions from our community.

Was it a huge crowd? No.
Was it a meaningful conversation? Absolutely. 💛

The pet parents who came told us they learned things they didn’t know before and that’s exactly why we do this. Mission accomplished.

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up, asked questions, and spent their Saturday learning how to keep their pets healthier and more comfortable.

Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing longer educational clips with audio soon so you can catch the full conversation if you missed it!

This is just the beginning.

This handsome boy did amazing for his surgery. 💙 One thing we love? An owner who plans ahead 🙌

Because of his thick neck and short little face, finding the perfect E-collar fit can sometimes be tricky for our brachycephalic friends. So his dad brought a post-surgical recovery suit and it fit like a glove!

Recovery suits can be a great alternative to the traditional “cone of shame” for some pets. They help:
✔️ Protect the incision
✔️ Reduce licking
✔️ Keep pets comfortable
✔️ Minimize bumping into furniture (we’ve all seen the cone chaos 😅)

Not every pet is a candidate, but in the right situation, they can be a fantastic option!

From baby carriage to big milestone day 🐾 💛

This handsome boy is Hugh from Perfectly Imperfect Pups Rescue and this past week he came to see us for his neuter surgery. He did amazing!

But here’s the sweet part…

The second I saw those eyeliner eyes and those BIG pointy ears, I knew I’d seen him before. After a little digging in my camera roll, I found it — November 10th. Hugh was just a tiny pup in a baby carriage with two other puppies at his intake with PIPS. 🥹

Fast forward to now, and here he is grown up, brave, and soaking up all the love.

This is one of the reasons we love working with rescues so much. We don’t just see pets for a moment. Sometimes we get to watch them grow, hit milestones, and start their next chapter.

Hugh left us headed to his new home, and we couldn’t be happier for him. 💛

Here’s to a lifetime of love, zoomies, and those perfectly imperfect ears.

This feral kitty came to us through Connie's Kittens in need of an enucleation surgery. Rescue medicine isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it looks like skilled hands in surgery and recovery in a humane trap instead of a kennel.

But every life matters. And even the cats who return to the wild deserve comfort, relief, and compassionate care.

We’re so grateful we were able to help this boy and give him a second chance at a more comfortable life. And a heartfelt thank you to Connie for advocating for him and bringing him to us so we could step in. 💛

This is what rescue medicine looks like.

By the time your pet’s breath smells bad, dental disease may be present already. And it’s not just about the teeth. Untreated dental disease can lead to pain, tooth loss, and even affect the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Routine dental cleanings aren’t just cosmetic. They help:
🦷 Prevent painful infections
🦷 Reduce the need for extractions
🦷 Protect vital organs
🦷 Extend your pet’s quality of life

Just like we see the dentist before there’s a problem, our pets benefit from preventive dental care too.

February is Pet Dental Health Month. If it’s been a while since your pet’s last dental exam or cleaning, let’s take a look before bad breath becomes the least of our concerns.
