Wrapped up Black History Month with another visit to Teague Middle School today. It was a privilege to speak with the students and share a little about my journey as an African American optometrist—the challenges, the late nights studying, and the path that led me into the profession.

I also had the chance to introduce them to the field of optometry and hopefully spark interest in careers they may not have considered before.

One of the highlights of the day was realizing that one of my patients from Essential Eyecare & Optical was actually in the class. Seeing a familiar face definitely brought a smile to my face.

Grateful for the opportunity to encourage the next generation and remind them that their goals are possible with hard work, faith, and persistence.

Holiday Team Outing – Another One for the Books!

We had an amazing time celebrating the season with another successful team outing! From battling it out and laughing nonstop at Sandbox VR, to enjoying a great dinner afterward and wrapping it all up with a White Elephant gift exchange, it was truly a night full of joy, connection, and memories.

I’m incredibly grateful for this team. We’re complete for the most part, and it’s such a blessing to work alongside people who care, support one another, and show up every day for our patients and each other.

As we head into 2026, I’m excited and expectant for all that God has in store for us. The best is truly ahead.
