We hope you will join us on May 6 for Altrusa International Foundation of Appleton's annual Mental Health Matters Luncheon honoring Mental Health Awareness Month. 50% of funds raised through this event will be donated to NAMI Fox Valley to support our free mental health programs!

This year's luncheon will feature keynote speaker Carson Molle, who will share his powerful story of survival, resilience, and advocacy after surviving a su***de attempt at age 14. Now 22, Carson travels the country breaking down stigma and helping others to know they are not alone.

What a sweet treat! A participant in our current Family-to-Family class treated the whole class last night to cookies decorated like brains 🧠 as well as a delicious cake! We thought this was so cool that we had to share it. 💚

Family-to-Family is an incredibly powerful 8-session class designed specifically for those who have a family member or other loved one living with mental illness. Along with learning enormously valuable information and skills in the class, participants benefit from connecting with others who are navigating similar journeys. Mental health recovery looks different for everyone, but having a safe, understanding place to turn can be life changing. NAMI Fox Valley's peer run respite, Iris Place, is here to offer connection, compassion, and hope when it’s needed most.

Located in Appleton, Iris Place is not a treatment facility or a hospital. It is a voluntary, short-term respite staffed entirely by peer support specialists who have their own lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery.

Guests at Iris Place can stay for up to seven nights at no cost. The respite offers a welcoming, homelike space to step away from stress, connect with others who understand, and work on recovery.

Guests do not need a diagnosis, insurance, or a referral. Participation is completely voluntary, and individuals remain in control of their own choices while staying at the respite. Guests are also able to come and go as they please during their stay, including going to work or other activities or appointments.

Iris Place provides a safe environment that offers individuals experiencing emotional distress to heal through the support of others with lived experience.
