Sometimes the most meaningful feedback comes when you least expect it.

Moments like these remind us exactly why we do what we do. During an educational dinner last night, a wonderful surprise unfolded: our waitress recognized Dr. Vrabec as the surgeon who performed her EVO ICL procedure years ago.

She took a moment to personally thank him for changing her life, sharing that she still vividly remembers the compassionate care, the comfort she felt, and even the music playing in the operating room that day. It is truly humbling to see the long-term impact of our work and to know that those small details stay with our patients for years.

We are so grateful for our patients and the opportunity to serve this incredible community.

Valley Eye Associates and Pinnacle Cataract and Laser Institute would like to congratulate Dr. Claire Hermsen for being named Chief Ophthalmology Resident for the 2026-2027 academic year at UW-Madison’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences!

Claire began her ophthalmology career as a high school student. She worked as an office technician at Valley Eye Associates and as a surgical scrub at Pinnacle Cataract and Laser Institute. She spent multiple summers in these roles and also accompanied Dr. Vrabec on a sight-saving mission trip performing cataract surgery in El Fuerte, Mexico.

We couldn't be prouder of Claire and we are not surprised that she is doing so well in her postgraduate training! Congratulations on this prestigious honor, Dr. Hermsen!
