D&R closed today as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King’s mission demanded an end to systemic racism, economic exploitation, state violence, and the criminalization of Black life. He understood that justice must reach those living at the intersections, including Black q***r and trans people, Black people navigating poverty, surveillance, and displacement.
Dr. King reminded us that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Today, that truth rings loudly as Black communities continue to face anti-Black racism, gender-based violence, and barriers to health, safety, and dignity. The struggle for liberation did not end in 1968; it has simply taken new forms.
At Diverse & Resilient, we carry forward Dr. King’s legacy by fighting for health equity, safety, and liberation for LGBTQ+ people of color, especially those most impacted by intersecting systems of oppression. Honoring Dr. King means confronting injustice as it exists now and refusing to look away.
We are still marching. We are still resisting. We are still dreaming.
