Karen Ouse Holistic Psychotherapy

Karen Ouse Holistic Psychotherapy Offering services in psychotherapy, including Somatic Experiencing, the Neuro-Affective Relational Model, and a creative blend of other approaches.

I apply a holistic lens to look at the whole person, not the pathology. Somatic Experiencing is another holistic approach to resolving symptoms of trauma and stress in the nervous system that sometimes includes hands-on work. Talk therapy alone won't change the underlying physiology that drives behavior, therefore I find that including the body in psychotherapy is extremely important.

We tend to judge judgment, both our own and the judgment of others. But sometimes our judgments might be better understood as the self protective representative for our deeper feelings that arise out of the pain of unmet needs. ❤️‍🩹

"Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive." -Hafiz 🙏💖✨🌷 Kind people, animals, the sun, the sea, the forest, a flower, a kitchen with good smells, a movie that pulls you in and helps you to think and feel, moving your body through dance and play and movement, poetry, children, learning. What vibrates the heart is healing medicine for these times.

"You didn't cause it, you can't control it, and you can't cure it." -Ashley Judd, in an interview with Diane Sawyer, talking about her mother's trauma. A good reminder for those of us that believe our loved one's suffering and issues were somehow up to us to resolve and heal.

“Perfection is not a polished thing. It is often something that is sincerely meant. Perfection is a job complete, praise given, prayer heard. It can be kindness shown, thanks offered up. Perfection is what we discover in each other, what we see reflected back. And if perfection eludes us, that doesn’t matter. For what we have in the moment is enough.” From Call the Midwife, Season 3, Episode 7.

For any and all of our healthcare workers -therapists, nurses, physicians, social workers, caregivers, teachers, firefighters, and the list goes on, Please check out the Energetics of Self Care energeticsofselfcare.com to learn ways to restore your nervous system and de-charge from toxic stress, overwhelm, and compassion fatigue. ✨🙏🏽✨

Everyone is struggling during this unprecedented pandemic time...!
This is precisely why I created energeticsofselfcare.com -- teaching healthcare workers and other helping/healing/service professionals how to offload stress daily and effectively, so it doesn't build up to burn-out, PTSD, or severe mental/physical health issues.
The old stress management technologies just don't address the enormity of what our frontline workers (and everyone else!) are facing, and have been facing, since 2020.
Going straight to the energy, using simple tools linked to the elements of nature, and dissolving the stressors/overwhelm within minutes every day -- even WHILE working -- is super-efficient, helpful... and lets you get your life back.

Please share this post with anyone you know, in healthcare! They could really use these tools.

“The world is full of love that goes unspoken. It doesn’t mean that it is felt less deeply or that separation leaves a cleaner wound. Its beauty and its pain are in its silence.” From Call the Midwife, Season 2, Episode 7.

An important film arriving at a critical time in our evolution as humans:

Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal per...

"We are capable of suffering with our world, and that is the true meaning of compassion.
It enables us to recognize our profound interconnectedness with all beings.
Don't ever apologize for crying for the trees burning in the Amazon or over the waters polluted from mines in the Rockies. Don't apologize for the sorrow, grief, and rage you feel.
It is a measure of your humanity and your maturity.
It is a measure of your open heart, and as your heart breaks open there will be room for the world to heal.
That is what is happening as we see people honestly confronting the sorrows of our time.”
