My quick Whole Foods Plant-based lunch plate today.

I love chickpea salads. They're a great substitute for a tuna salad. Lemme know if you want a recipe!

I try to make it without using the food processor to minimize dirty dishes. My 'secret' is smushing the chickpeas with my hand :-) It's easier than a fork!

The kale is briefly steamed in the microwave. I add a dash of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt.

What I'm trying to express is that each of us is a natural wonder. Your everyday brain doesn't hang out there, but if you zoom out (and zoom way in), there you are: an extraordinary body-mind-soul!

And you've got some agency. In a world with so many troubles, one of our avenues to contribute something positive is to take care of ourselves. Self-care is like compost for our contributions: feeding them to make them grow strong and live long.

It's like the Earth gave me this gift of a Life in a body. Can I honor and protect this gift? What does that look like? For me, a walk outside first thing in the morning. Work breaks. Gratitude breaks. Beans and greens in most meals.... How about for you? What's one thing you'll do today that feeds your body-mind-soul?

Who says eating plant-based has to be difficult and boring?!
Here's a quick treat:
Cut purple sweet potato transversely, in disks, and bake at 400 degrees F.
These sweet potato rounds can be used in myriad ways.
Here, I topped it with a layer of peanut butter, 1/2 a medjool date and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. It's a rich and filling treat full of magnificent nutrients!

A little coaching tip: even 'healthy' treats can trigger overconsumption so decide ahead how many of these you want to eat according to your goals. Set your environment to support you. And fiercely defend your health and well-being.

Our bodies are our Life companions.
Our muscles are built for movement. For most of us, much more movement than our modern lives require. (I'm sitting as I write this.) In order to give our muscles what they need we must choose to take care of them. To show them some love.

It's like our muscles' LOVE LANGUAGE is MOVEMENT.

If exercise is a drag for you, maybe you just haven't found the right way to say "I love you" to your muscles. Try something new. Get curious about what feels good, both during and afterwards.

I like gentle stretching while I'm still in bed in the morning. I like walking, hiking jogging (but not know due to a knee injury), dancing, swimming....

What kind of movement does your body like?
