EHV-1 Outbreak‼️ FYI
🔻 Your horse does NOT have to touch Noses or share Buckets to become infected!
🔻 Horses that were hauled to the race, NEVER stalled and only exposed to other horses in the warmup arena tested positive
🔻 Virus can be transferred via your clothing, shoes, hands, tools, bleach will NOT eliminate it on organic materials
🔻 Several horses were euthanized already, several in ICU, some clinics full and closed to intakes of positive cases
🔻Accelerated hydrogen peroxide (AHP) disinfectants are effective against EHV-1, especially in the presence of organic matter like manure and bedding.
Examples of AHP products: Examples of AHP products that can be used include Intervention®, Accel/Rescue® and Oxivir®
🔻 Not every horse will run a fever if positive!
🔻 At least one horse tested positive at the Oklahoma race yesterday
🔻 While most posts only state the Waco Barrel Race, several of the horses who were there also went to other races in Texas afterwards
👉🏽You don't have to bring your horse into your living room 😉 BUT...
DO NOT ‼️HAUL your horses ANYWHERE for at LEAST the next 2 weeks where there are other horses!
