Liberty, a beloved pet therapy dog at Selah Counseling Center, brought comfort, joy, and healing to countless individuals with her gentle presence. Her unconditional love and calming energy provided solace to those in need, offering a unique kind of support that words alone often could not.

Animals offer numerous benefits to humans, from emotional support to physical health improvements. Their presence has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, promoting a sense of calm and security. Petting or interacting with animals can lower blood pressure and trigger the release of endorphins, which enhance mood and overall well-being. Beyond the emotional advantages, animals also provide opportunities for physical activity and social interaction, which can improve the physical health of their owners. Ultimately, the bond between humans and animals fosters a sense of companionship, responsibility, and unconditional love, enriching both lives in profound ways.

Pet therapy is a powerful tool in healing, reminding us that love, companionship, and connection can be found in the most unexpected places, offering hope and encouragement for all who seek it. Though Liberty has passed away, we honor her memory and the profound impact she had on the lives she touched.

Selah Counseling Centers Arcadia office has reopened after having temporarily closed due to the Santa Ana winds and wildfires nearby. Here are some images of the past week on some of the damages on our street and the view of Eaton fire from our floor. Our hearts are broken for those lives that have been lost and families who have lost their homes. We will continue to provide support to our clients and those with mental health needs. We are very grateful to all those fighting to put out the fires and in awe of the strength the people have in coming together to support one another and uplift each other up. We are praying for Los Angeles and the state of CA. Blessings!

The Selah Counseling Center's Arcadia office may be temporarily closed due to the power outage, but we are committed to supporting our clients through telehealth services. Your safety and well-being are our utmost priority.

Valentine's Day can evoke various emotions, ranging from joy and affection to loneliness and sadness. Healthy relationships can contribute positively to one's mental well-being, while struggles with mental health can impact one's ability to give and receive love.

In healthy relationships, love can provide emotional support, validation, and a sense of belonging, which can bolster mental resilience and overall happiness. The presence of understanding, empathy, and open communication in these relationships can create a nurturing environment where individuals feel safe to express themselves authentically.

It's important to prioritize self-care and acknowledge that it's okay to feel however you do on this day. Whether you're celebrating love with a partner, friends, family, or practicing self-love, remember that your mental health matters and it's okay to seek support if needed. Take care of yourself and be gentle with your feelings.
