The Golden Mike I received from for my story on my skin cancer diagnosis and surgery to rebuild my ear means so much to me. 🙏 I shared my story in hopes of saving others. One tiny spot can turn out to be life changing which is why getting an annual skin check is so important. I want to especially thank who knew the spot needed to be biopsied when others didn’t and the talented who saved my ear. 🙏 And thank you to my News Director@producerpam for allowing me share my experience. Trust your gut if something doesn’t seem right with your body, advocate for yourself and be preventive. Go for that skin check! ❤️

Let’s talk about the “No SPF” trend. 🧴🛑

I love a good self-deprecating video as much as the next derm, but we need to get clear: influence should never come at the cost of your health.

Watching 20-something influencers—who aren’t dermatologists—peddle the myth that you don’t need sunscreen is frustrating. Why? Because I’m the one seeing the skin cancer patients in their 40s who are paying the price for those “sun-kissed” years.

The facts haven’t changed:
• UV radiation causes DNA mutations.
• Sun damage is cumulative and is known to cause skin cancers.
• Melanin provides some protection, but it isn’t a suit of armor.
Don’t trade long-term health for a short-term trend. Wear your sunscreen. Stay safe. ☀️

Found joy this weekend having lunch to celebrate the birthday of my wonderful French teacher Nadine. I have been taking weekly French lessons with her for the past 18 years- it’s hard to believe it’s been that long and I still have trouble remembering if certain nouns are masculine or feminine 😂

I’ve been so brokenhearted for what one of my heroes, Dolores Huerta, has been through and kept secret all of these decades for the sake of the farmworkers movement. But at the same time I’m so glad that she has been able to speak her truth and that our community has a chance now to support her. I heard a say this on IG today and I think it’s very fitting for all the dark things that we see from powerful men around us: “I don’t need our leaders to be saints, but I need them not to be monsters.”
