Repost

“Hello, my name is Mason Marie Tanev, and I am a PhD candidate in the Anthropology and Social Change department at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. I am currently recruiting participants for my dissertation research.

My dissertation, From Supervision to Solidarity: Collective Ethics in Underground Psychedelic Practice, explores how underground psychedelic providers organize for solidarity, knowledge transmission, safety, and accountability. In essence, I am interested in how these communities create and sustain ethical systems of care outside of formal state regulation.

Please see the attached flyer for secure contact information. I appreciate how significant it is to request connection from a stranger into a marginalized and often criminalized community. My hope is that my position as both a provider and an activist researcher helps situate this work as from within rather than from above. I am happy to answer any questions about participant safety, confidentiality, or the scope of the research.

Thank you sincerely for your time and any support you may be able to offer.”

Every protest is a ritual to recognize, reflect and reorient to our shared humanity and collective pursuits of safety and liberation. WE KEEP EACH-OTHER SAFE!

Ideas on ways to stay engaged after each protest:
- Join Mutual Aid groups in your community.
- ORGANIZE , volunteer for Local organizations supporting social justice issues and the causes that are most meaningful to you.
- Value-aligned actions, stay accountable to creating the world you want to live in.
- Random Daily Acts of kindness and compassion, it goes a long way!!!
- Amplifying marginalized voices, especially if you hold social location privileges, ability and access. Hoarding resources, staying silent, ignoring injustices only perpetuates systemic oppression. Speak out!! Act Out! Boycott & divest from businesses and institutions that promote harm. It's not easy, but it's worth every effort.
- Discussing current events and threats to basic human rights-everywhere and often! Make it awkward! It is awkward! ...and absolutely absurd and harmful to all of us.

Therapists are crucial in advocating for liberation and human rights. Recognizing the impacts of systemic oppression and promoting trauma-informed care that is equitable and accessible is vital.

Individual and community wellbeing is intertwined. Our Mental health is intricately linked with our societal wellbeing.
- Connect with community, connect with nature!

Keep going! You are not alone in these times.

“Lost in awe at the beauty around me, I must have slipped into a state of heightened awareness. It is hard – impossible really – to put into words the moment of truth that suddenly came upon me then. Even the mystics are unable to describe their brief flashes of spiritual ecstasy. It seemed to me, as I struggled afterward to recall the experience, the self was utterly absent: I and the chimpanzees, the earth and trees and air, seemed to merge, to become one with the spirit power of life itself. The air was filled with a feathered symphony, the evensong of birds. I heard new frequencies in their music and also in singing insects’ voices – notes so high and sweet I was amazed. Never had I been so intensely aware of the shape, the color of the individual leaves, the varied patterns of the veins that made each one unique. Scents were clear as well, easily identifiable: fermenting, overripe fruit; waterlogged earth; cold, wet bark; the damp odor of chimpanzee hair, and yes, my own too. And the aromatic scent of young, crushed leaves was almost overpowering.

That afternoon, it had been as though an unseen hand had drawn back a curtain and, for the briefest moment, I had seen through such a window. In a flash of “outsight” I had known timelessness and quiet ecstasy, sensed a truth of which mainstream science is merely a small fraction. And I knew that the revelation would be with me for the rest of my life, imperfectly remembered yet always within. A source of strength on which I could draw when life seemed harsh or cruel or desperate.”

The pause, the moments in-between, the time alone, the back of the mind and heart... allow these moments to be doorways of connection to the authentic self, to present life ~ to the world we are all connected to. Rooted in compassion, love and radical acceptance of what is.

SHARED ABUNDANCE 🪏👩🏼‍🌾

Today I opened the front door to this beautiful cornucopia of garden goodies left on our doorstep by my neighbor. Yesterday, my 5 year old was playing in the yard and decided, on her own accord, she wanted to share some of our garden fruits and veggies with our neighbor. So I handed her this basket and let her go wild choosing what to harvest and share. I was a little shy about it at first, because this is our first year living in this house and as any north coast gardener knows, it takes a minute for things to produce in this climate.

Today the basket was returned full to the brim! 🧺 🥦🥬🌸✨
This neighbor has been tending to her garden for decades now, so this basket felt like a delicious treat to receive.

The basket also held a giant feeing of gratitude and love for our community and neighbors. Along with the reminder that
tending to our community affirms our personal and collective health, sharing openly with your neighbors and local community confirms abundance for everyone. No amount is to little to be shared. The gift is in the giving ✨

A tribute to Joanna Macy, an environmental activist, educator and systems theorist who greatly inspired the field of Ecopsychology. She passed away this past weekend RIP. Her work is a living, cellular legacy connected to all sentient beings. Her last slide I use often in therapy sessions with clients, and personally ~ especially as we collectively navigate feelings of eco grief and anxiety that come with current and rapid changes in our world.

Thank you Joanna Macy and 🌀
