PS - followup to last post. Just spoke again to CGS - said Review Team is still reviewing our "Situation" and CGS will keep us posted as soon as they hear back from the Review Team. Said the Review Team is backlogged from the Gov't Shutdown and are working at getting all issues resolved as soon as they can. CGS stressed again - do not provide your personal information to ANYONE over the phone whether they say they are from Medicare/CGS/CMS. Best to call 1-800-Medicare to verify and/or if have questions.

They also said that if the patient did receive a letter from CGS/CMS regarding overpayment refund, please file the appeal letter we sent you, keep a copy of it and they would advise that you submit the refund to them at this time, until a determination is made.

Update: In regards to situation with CGS/CMS Medicare. We just communicated with them again today (weekly occurrence right now), and waiting on a call back from them again.

In the meantime, it was brought to our attention yesterday by a former patient that they received a phone call from an individual posing as a Claim Rep with Medicare. I am not sure what information the patient provided to the individual, however, I spoke with CGS late yesterday afternoon and again this afternoon and they both said "Medicare DOES NOT contact the patient's/subscribers directly." Said it could be a scam from someone trying to obtain individual's Medicare #, SS #, etc.

Please do not provide your numbers to anyone over the phone. If in doubt, ask for their phone number to call them back and their name and then call CGS Medicare directly - I believe subscriber's number is 1-800-Medicare to call (if different than our Provider's number), and ask them if anyone from CGS is trying to reach you. This may be the safest route to take - calling CGS directly. It's so sad that there are individuals out there who are "scamming" individuals. Please do not provide your identification numbers to anyone that may call you.

We will continue to keep everyone posted as we hear anything now that the Government has reopened. Stay safe everyone and have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

Update: Our Office spoke with a rep. at CGS Medicare. Issue is still not resolved and it is our understanding that it may take a little time especially with the Gov't shutdown affecting CMS. Our Office is not able to contact CMS directly, we can only go thru CGS. The rep. at CGS recommended to have our patient's file an appeal against the decision of reimbursing the over payment. They said the appeal is on the back page on the letter you received, on how to do it and the address it is to be sent to. They also said in the appeal under the "Notice of Waiver of Recovery Provision", to use especially #1 of the 2 reasons as a reason that you are appealing the overpayment request. Some patients have chosen to also along with the letter and copy of the letter to also pay the overpayment amount already to be on the safe side. It is my understanding from CGS that once this is resolved, the patient's are to hopefully be reimbursed for the overpayment amount paid. CGS did also advise that anything you send in to CGS, to please keep a copy of what is sent for your records until this is all resolved.

Update regarding Medicare. I spoke with CGS yesterday again 2x's. They are having a meeting to see what best way is to resolve the issue and contacting me again. Problem is CGS needs to contact CMS, (which is something we cannot do - contact CMS) has to come from CGS and with Gov't shutdown right now is not helping CGS to get issue resolved with CMS. Will continue to keep everyone posted on updates. Thanks for your patience.

PS - I will be in the Office very very limited hours this week, due to having 2 family funerals to attend back to back, but will keep everyone posted as to updates in regards to the below. Am hoping to hear from our rep. at CGS Monday, as I do have his direct number to contact him and had left a message Thursday for him to call me back Monday. Notice:

Our Office noticed about a week ago, that CMS/CGS (Medicare) had made an error in regards to our enrollment with them from 4/1/2024 thru 8/6/2025. We immediately contacted CGS about the error and were informed that back in August they had sent a letter to us in regards to the enrollment update, however, our Office never and still have not received the letter they sent us. It is being assumed that it was lost in the mail. We immediately had them start looking into the error and were told a representative would contact us. Two days later they did, and we were told that they would contact CMS (Medicare) and get back with us, in 3 to 10 days. In the meantime, however, we have heard from some of our former patient's that Medicare is now requesting all monies sent back to them from each patient that received care at our Office after 4/1/2024, even though the issue still has not been resolved yet. To the best of our knowledge from what we can tell in talking with CGS, is that someone in the enrollment Office deactivated our enrollment with Medicare around 8/6/2025, and then in error backdated it to April 2024. We left another message last Thursday with the representative at CGS in regards to the latest notification we received and are awaiting a call back/response from them.

We apologize for all of this. It is nothing our Office did, and we are attempting to get this all resolved ASAP and are in continual communication with the representative at CGS that is trying to assist us in contacting and resolving the issue with the enrollment department, who unfortunately we are unable to speak with directly. This has all been so frustrating for us, and we know it is even more so for you. We will keep you posted thru our page as we work to get this issue resolved promptly.

We just ask that you call before you come to allow us time to get them ready for you. After 8/1/25, they will then be professionally shredded.
