May people have been affected by SNAP being taken away and it's heartbreaking seeing people go through this.

So here we are! Im reaching out to you all in hopes we can come together.

I will be making chilli bags for those in need. In these bags there will be the following: canned black beans, canned pinto beans, canned red beans, canned tomato sauce, canned diced tomatoes, and a chilli seasoning packet. Each bag will have a simple recipe for chilli in it as well.

If you would like to donate any of these items, please feel free to do so! I will be taking donations or you can feel free to drop them off at the Arlington Heights location! I will be putting a donation box in the office in the next couple of days.

It is always an honor to be at a birth. I truly have missed it all.

It still amazes me what the human body can do, to bring a whole life into this world is just beautiful.

Labor is such a mental game and I cant even explain how important it is to be in a positive mindset going into labor. It changes the whole dynamic of birth always. I always tell clients, trust yourself and your ability to birth your baby.

Transgender Day of Visibility was started by Member and activist Rachel Crandall-Crocker in 2009 as a reaction to the lack of recognition of trans people, noting that the only well-known gender diversity centered day was the Trans Day of Remembrance, a day of mourning. TDOV was created to acknowledge and celebrate living members of the transgender community. International Transgender Day of Visibility has been held on March 31 ever since!

Depression can look like many things.
Sometimes you can see it very clearly and sometimes it can hide in between the shadows.
But many times depression closes you off, it shuts people off, it makes you feel empty, amongst other things.

So please, if you or someone you know is experiencing depression, have them reach out to someone to simply just hear their story to start.

Hi! I'm Joanna, but go by Jo. As many of you know, this page has been dedicated to my Birth Doula content the last couple of years. It's been a remarkable journey supporting many families and welcoming babies earthside. I will still be supporting some cleints that are repeats and being a backup for close friends, but my heart for a long time has missed being in the clinical world.

Which brings us here today! A few months ago, I decided it was time to go back to my Social Worker roots! I'm working at a private practice, working with perinatal mental health, families transitioning into parenthood, adolescents, and individuals. I love creating a safe space for ALL! When you walk into my office, the first thing you will see is a sign saying, "This is a safe space to be who you are." I enjoy using CBT, psychotherapy, yoga, mindfulness, art therapy, and attachment theories in practice, amongst others.
