Today is World Heart Day, a global holiday dedicated to spreading awareness for cardiovascular diseases.

Let’s have a heart to heart about CVDs:
CVD is the most common cause of death globally.
An estimated 17 million people die from CVD every year.
More than 80% of deaths occur in middle-income and low-income countries.
Most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing behavioral risk factors such as to***co use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol.
It is important to detect cardiovascular disease as early as possible!

Learn to recognize the warning signs so we can beat CVD and keep your heart beating!

Waking up on the wrong side of the bed doesn’t have to ruin your whole day. Here are nine healthy habits to start the morning off right.

1. Wake up early - Get an early start on your to-do list!
2. Smile and think positive! - Even if it's forced, you’ll be in a better mood! Smiling makes your body release feel-good neurotransmitters.
3. Make your bed - Establishing outer order helps channel inner calm!
4. Brush your teeth - Remove that plaque buildup as soon as possible.
5. Drink some water with lemon - Lemon water cleanses and stimulates the liver and kidneys, helps protect you from catching a cold, and keeps your skin looking young and healthy.
6. Stretch - To relieve the tension in your back and neck from the night before and loosen up your muscles for the day.
7. Meditate - Mindfulness can begin from the moment you wake up. Setting aside even 10 minutes for meditation can help you be focused, content and optimistic, setting the tone for the day.
8. Eat a healthy breakfast - Kickstart your metabolism and boost concentration with a healthy breakfast that isn’t just a chugged cup of coffee.
9. Spark some creativity - Bring motivation and inspiration into your day from the start! This can look like journaling, reading, knitting, anything!

We all dread the annoying blare of the alarm, but implementing these little things might have you looking forward to the noise … and your new morning routine!
