We are so excited to welcome Elyse and Brooke to the March Animal Hospital family! 🐾💙

✨Elyse joins us with 5 years of experience in the veterinary field. When she's not caring for animals, she loves to travel and spend time with her 11 pets, including her beloved horse Lulu! 🐴Her favorite animal is the mighty grizzly bear.🐻

✨Brooke also brings us 5 years of veterinary experience. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, reading, and all things Disney!🎨📚 She shares her home with 12 pets, including her many tarantulas.🕷 Her favorite animal is the graceful dolphin.🐬

We are thrilled to have their talent, passion and big hearts on our team.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Andrew Sheridan, in December 2025, to our team at March! Dr. Sheridan will bring years of knowledge and help to expand our services and availability for our clients and their pets! 🐾

Dr. Andrew Sheridan is joining March Animal Hospital in December 2025. Originally from Arlington Heights, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign earning his Bachelor's and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees in 2006 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Sheridan has a special interest in internal medicine, preventative care, and neurology. He has taken multiple courses in ultrasonography and is Elite Fear Free Certified. Dr. Sheridan's favorite part of being a veterinarian is getting to care for the animals in his community and that he gets to go to work with people that he enjoys in a fun and supportive environment.

Dr. Sheridan is blessed to have a very supportive wife, Aurora, and two energetic boys, Abel and Asher. They also have a Great Pyrenees mix named Charlie. Dr. Sheridan has played the piano since he was in kindergarten. He's also an avid fan of the Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls and Fighting Illini.

🎃 Happy Halloween from March Animal Hospital! 🐾👻

As you and your pets get ready for a night of spooky fun, we wanted to share some Halloween safety tips to keep your furry friends safe from all the candy and treats! 🍬🕸️

🍬 Keep Candy Out of Reach:
While it’s tempting to share your Halloween goodies with your pets, chocolate, xylitol (a sweetener found in sugar-free gum and candies), and hard candies can be dangerous or toxic to pets. Always keep candy in a secure place away from curious paws!

👻 Watch Out for Wrappers:
Those colorful candy wrappers can be a choking hazard, especially for smaller pets like dogs or cats. Make sure to dispose of wrappers properly and monitor your pets if candy is around.

🎃 Treat Your Pets Right:
Instead of candy, treat your pets to pet-friendly snacks like carrot sticks, dog-safe peanut butter, or special Halloween-themed treats designed just for them! 🐕🍖

🕸️ Safe Trick-or-Treating:
If you’re taking your dog out for Halloween fun, make sure they’re visible and safe. Glow-in-the-dark collars or reflective gear will keep them easy to spot in the dark!

⚠️ Emergency Plan:
If your pet does consume candy (especially chocolate or anything toxic), call your vet immediately or reach out to an emergency pet poison hotline. The sooner you act, the better!

🦠 Parasites Are Active Year-Round! 🐾

Parasites like fleas, ticks, and heartworms don’t take a break when the weather cools down. In fact, they’re active in temperatures above freezing (32°F), meaning your pet needs protection all year long! 🍂🌞

Why Year-Round Protection Matters:

🪳Fleas and Ticks can thrive even in colder weather, especially in protected outdoor areas like yards or in heated homes.

🦟Heartworms can still be transmitted by mosquitoes, even when it's chilly, as long as the temperature is above freezing.

🪱Intestinal Parasites remain a risk, as they can be spread through soil, water, or contact with other animals.

Keep Your Pet Protected:

Make sure your pet is on monthly parasite preventatives year-round!

Regular vet visits for parasite screenings help ensure your pet stays safe from hidden dangers.

Don’t let the cold fool you, parasites are active anytime it’s above 32°F. Keep your pet protected 365 days a year! 🐾💚
