Live4Lali was honored to attend the Blue Christmas Service at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockford this morning, holding space for grief, love, and remembrance during a tender time of year.
Blue Christmas services offer a quiet, contemplative space for those who are hurting or missing loved ones during the holidays, and it was meaningful to be present with a community that recognizes both sorrow and hope 💜
If this season is hard for you, you are not alone! Support is available, and it is always okay to seek connection, comfort, and care.

Seventeen years ago today, we tragically lost our brother, son, friend, and our namesake, Alex “Lali” Laliberte. His life and legacy are the heart of everything we do at Live4Lali. Alex’s story fuels our passion to build a world where compassion and understanding replace stigma and shame, and where harm reduction is a pathway to hope, healing, and connection.
We know Alex isn’t the only one. So many of us have an Alex in our lives, a person whose story reminds us why we continue to fight for empathy, support, and change for those affected by substance use. Today, as we remember Alex, we invite you to share your “why.” What has Live4Lali meant for you?
If you or someone you love is using substances, in recovery, or coping with loss, please visit live4lali.org for resources, support, and connection. You are never alone.
