July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month! Now is the time to bring awareness to the everyday struggles that minority groups face when dealing with mental illness. Mental health conditions do not discriminate based on gender, identity, race, or color.

Anyone can experience mental illness regardless of their background, and everyone deserves compassionate care that feels supportive and safe. Together, we can listen, learn, and lead to create a more empathetic and supportive world.

Did you know that June is National Men’s Health Month? This event heightens the awareness of preventable health problems (physical and mental), and encourages early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. National Men’s Health Week is June 9th-15th, the week leading up to Father’s Day this year.

During Men’s Health Month, encourage the men in your family and social circles to support each other and take a proactive approach to their complete well-being! Since 1992, April has been designated Stress Awareness Month. Americans are more stressed than ever with politics, the economy, sports, academics, household and family needs, etc.!

Stress awareness doesn’t mean that we should fall down the rabbit hole and continue feeling horrible. It means we should be aware of the health effects from stress so we can make the right choices for ourselves and our family members.

Remember, your mental health matters, and taking positive steps to manage stress is a sign of strength and growth.

Take care of yourself (mind and body), take a break from the news, and talk to others (including your friends, family, and therapists!)
