After giving birth to her youngest daughter, Erin Adelekun told doctors she had a headache; her concerns were dismissed. Days later, her pain worsened. It turns out, she was having a stroke. Erin recognized her symptoms and acted F.A.S.T.

The impact was devastating; she had to relearn how to walk and talk - her husband was told she might not survive.

"My recovery is ongoing, but I've turned my darkest moments into my purpose, raising awareness about stroke, especially to new moms," said Erin, who documents her recovery via her "Stroke Mama" platform on Instagram.

Today, Erin will take the stage at the International Stroke Conference where she'll share her story with scientists and researches from across the globe, and she joins the national Go Red for Women campaign - a sisterhood of heart disease and stroke survivors from across backgrounds.

Take a moment to read more of Erin's story - and learn the F.A.S.T. symptoms.

In a cardiac emergency, the first responder is you. Saving a life takes knowledge and courage, not medical training.

If a teen or adult collapses, start Hands-Only CPR. It has just two steps: Call 911, then push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives.
