🕰️ Falling Back — and Taking Care 🍁
As we “fall back” and gain an extra hour this weekend, it’s a good reminder that time changes can affect more than just our clocks — they can impact our mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing.
Shorter days and longer nights can bring challenges for many of us, in particular navigating mental health and/or substance use recovery. The shift in daylight can disrupt routines, lower energy, and even intensify feelings of isolation.
This makes self-care especially important right now:
💡 Get outside during daylight hours — even a short walk can boost mood.
🛏️ Keep consistent sleep and meal times to support your body’s rhythm.
💬 Reach out — to friends, peers, treatment or a recovery community — connection is key.
☕ Be gentle with yourself; change, even small, can take adjustment.
Recovery and wellness is not about perfection — it is about awareness, compassion, and taking small steps toward balance. As the clocks turn back, let’s remember to give ourselves the grace to rest, reflect, and recharge.
