A huge thank you to the team at Parker Hannifin Fort Worth for their generous donation of immediate needs items for families at The Archway!

Most women and children arrive at our domestic violence shelters with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. Donations like this provide essential daily items that restore dignity and help families focus on what matters most - safety and healing.

We’re so grateful for partners like Parker who care so deeply about our community! 💜

Last November, our community lost 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson to domestic violence. 🪽

Bre’Asia was a devoted mother to her three children, ages 7, 6, and 2, and she was five months pregnant at the time of her death. This week, a man she was previously in a relationship with was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with her killing.

Her children will now grow up carrying the weight of this loss, and a family is now navigating life without a loved one who should still be here. We are thinking of everyone who loved Bre’Asia as they face unimaginable heartbreak.

What many people don't realize is that women in the United States who are pregnant or who have recently given birth are more likely to be murdered than to die from obstetric causes. Behind that statistic are mothers, babies, and families whose futures are changed forever.

Because of tragedies like this, our team is currently working on research focused on better identifying and supporting women who are pregnant and experiencing, or have previously experienced, abuse. Pregnancy should be a time surrounded by care and protection, not elevated risk of abuse.

If you feel afraid in your relationship, or if something doesn’t feel right, free and confidential support is available.

🏆 Our Archway Attributes Awards celebrate the people who live out our values every single day, and the best part is that each winner is nominated by their teammates who see that impact up close. 🏆

The 2025 Accountability Award went to Cass Dale, the Shelter Aide at our Fort Worth Shelter!

Accountability isn’t just about checking boxes or completing tasks. It’s about showing up, paying attention, and stepping in before anyone even has to ask. Cass has become the kind of teammate everyone can count on. From supporting coworkers across departments to bringing warmth and positivity into everyday moments, Cass helps create an environment where both staff and families feel cared for.

📢 As one nominator shared:
“Cass always initiates work duties or projects even before I ask them to. I can always trust that they know what needs to be done — and many times, they’ve already done it before I can even ask.”

Please join us in celebrating Cass for always lending a helping hand!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! 💜

The Archway's school-based Prevention Team partnered with Youth Leading Change (YLC) students at Everman ISD to host a “Mend a Broken Heart” table. The YLC students helped their peers identify unhealthy behaviors and practice choosing safe, respectful responses.

By starting these conversations early, we’re helping young people gain the tools and confidence to prevent relationship violence before it ever begins.

Last week, our community lost 26-year-old Talia Sanchez to domestic violence. She was allegedly killed by the father of her 7-month-old son, who will now grow up without his mama.

There are no right words for a loss like this. We’re sending all our love to her baby, her family, and everyone who loved her as they face unimaginable grief.

Domestic violence homicides aren’t something that only happens “somewhere else." They happen here - to our neighbors, our friends, and families who never imagined it would end this way.

If you feel afraid in your relationship, or if something doesn’t feel right, please know that free and confidential support is available.

In memory of Talia and her loved ones, we remain committed to doing everything we can to prevent domestic violence homicides.

Our shelter director snapped this picture of a tiny snow angel outside our domestic violence shelter during the recent winter storm.

Families come to us while they’re actively fleeing abuse at home. In many cases, there's still someone trying to find them and cause harm. That’s why we don’t show faces or share names. But we can share moments like this.

This is what life looks like here at The Archway. Kiddos still play outside. They still make snow angels. They still look for small moments of joy during the most difficult time of their life.

Safety will always be the foundation of our work, but we know that giving families the comfort and space to actually live again matters just as much.
