February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! 💜

The Archway's school-based Prevention Team partnered with Youth Leading Change (YLC) students at Everman ISD to host a “Mend a Broken Heart” table. The YLC students helped their peers identify unhealthy behaviors and practice choosing safe, respectful responses.

By starting these conversations early, we’re helping young people gain the tools and confidence to prevent relationship violence before it ever begins.

Last week, our community lost 26-year-old Talia Sanchez to domestic violence. She was allegedly killed by the father of her 7-month-old son, who will now grow up without his mama.

There are no right words for a loss like this. We’re sending all our love to her baby, her family, and everyone who loved her as they face unimaginable grief.

Domestic violence homicides aren’t something that only happens “somewhere else." They happen here - to our neighbors, our friends, and families who never imagined it would end this way.

If you feel afraid in your relationship, or if something doesn’t feel right, please know that free and confidential support is available.

In memory of Talia and her loved ones, we remain committed to doing everything we can to prevent domestic violence homicides.

Our shelter director snapped this picture of a tiny snow angel outside our domestic violence shelter during the recent winter storm.

Families come to us while they’re actively fleeing abuse at home. In many cases, there's still someone trying to find them and cause harm. That’s why we don’t show faces or share names. But we can share moments like this.

This is what life looks like here at The Archway. Kiddos still play outside. They still make snow angels. They still look for small moments of joy during the most difficult time of their life.

Safety will always be the foundation of our work, but we know that giving families the comfort and space to actually live again matters just as much.

We’re celebrating some incredible generosity today! 🎉

We are so thankful for Mount Olive Baptist Church and their $20,000 gift to support families seeking safety from domestic violence at The Archway!

Mount Olive has been such a faithful partner over the years, and their continued support has changed the lives of countless women and children in Tarrant County. It truly takes a community to help families escape abuse, and we’re grateful beyond words that Mount Olive is part of ours!

🎉 Today we’re celebrating a BIG moment for The Archway and for survivors across Texas. 🎉

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed our President & CEO, Dr. Kathryn Jacob, to the 21-member Texas Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force. This group of experts will focus on preventing the most severe outcomes of family violence.

Kathryn is the only DFW-based appointee and one of just a few task force members statewide representing a direct intimate partner violence service provider. Her frontline experience, including leading the Tarrant County Adult IPV Fatality Review Team, brings real-world insight to statewide prevention efforts.

We’re so incredibly proud to see her expertise, leadership, and commitment recognized at this level. Congratulations, Kathryn - Texas is safer because of your work! 💜

🏆 We’re back to celebrate our peer-nominated Archway Attributes Awards winners! 🏆

Next up, help us congratulate Mindy Reiling, our Fort Worth Shelter Director, and this year’s honoree for Curiosity!

📢 Here’s what one teammate shared about Mindy:
“When Mindy joined The Archway she immediately jumped in and took the initiative to understand all things Fort Worth Shelter from policy, reporting, operations, and asked many questions along the way. Mindy is a team player and genuinely has the client’s best interest at heart. In her role as an inquisitive Director, questions every day are necessary as this is how she ensures the Fort Worth shelter operates as smoothly as possible. ”

We're so grateful to have a teammate like Mindy who continues to push us to be better and better for families! 💜

❄️🚨 As winter weather moves in, we want to be clear: If you are in an unsafe relationship, severe weather can often make things more dangerous. 🚨❄️

Isolation increases. Tension builds. Options can feel limited.

We’re sharing our domestic violence safety planning document today for anyone who needs help thinking through how to prepare if they need to leave quickly. While this resource can be helpful on its own, safety planning is always most effective when done with a trained advocate, and ours are ready and available by calling our 24/7 crisis hotline. Calling does not mean you have to leave. We can help you think, plan, and stay safer, whether you're ready to leave or not.

The Archway remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - even during winter storms. We know that abuse doesn’t stop for weather, nights, or weekends, and support shouldn’t either.
