Turbinoplasty is a really good procedure, if it’s performed the right way. Check out the video to learn about it!

In this video I discuss how turbinoplasty is performed. I describe the “old way” it used to be performed, by resecting the inferior turbinate. While usually a successful procedure it had the potential to cause a extremely frustrating and possibly permanent side effect, called “empty nose syndr...

Check out the blog if you want a good write up on broken noses. I get asked about them all the time.

Patients often ask me, “What do I do if I think I’ve broken my nose?”  Well the first thing to do is to look and see if it appears deformed. If the nose is fractured, and there is a deformity (like it is moved to one side or the other), then it will need to be repaired. But if the fractur

I’ve posted this on the blog (drshellenberger.com) but also wanted to post it on FB, too.

A research study in the UK showed some correlation between diet and ear health.

In short, things that are good for your hearing: vitamin B12, high protein diets, and eating fruits, veggies and meats (yay!). Bad: calcium, iron, and fat. I'm having steak tonight...for my health, of course!

Here’s a link to the study:

Even though I was pretty sure I didn’t have sleep apnea, I wanted to know what it felt like to complete a home sleep study. Check out the video on the blog to see how I did!

As Sleep Medicine physician and Ear, Nose and Throat doc, I order home sleep studies for patients all the time. I had never done one myself, but in this video I show how I unbox the home sleep study machine, put it on, wear it for a night, and then discuss my experience after I wake up the next morn

I don’t think there are many true “ear” emergencies, but sudden loss of hearing in one ear does actually need to be seen pretty quickly. Check out the blog to find out why!

There aren’t many ear issues I would call an emergency. Many people go to the emergency room for vertigo, but I wouldn’t classify that as an emergency. However, there is one case that I think needs immediate attention and that is sudden hearing loss. If you experience sudden hearing loss, you ne...
