An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a highly trained professional who specializes in breastfeeding and lactation support. From latch issues and milk supply concerns to pumping plans and returning to work, they provide evidence-based guidance when families need it most.

I’ve had the honor of being in community with two of the best: Dr. Tenise Hordge of Mother’s Magical Milk and Tiffani Dickerson of The Breast Choice. Their commitment to supporting families is unmatched, and they are an invaluable resource for WWOH.

This one is personal. 💙

We lost my sister/cousin LaSonja to Stage IV colon cancer three years ago. It progressed quietly — and by the time we knew, it was advanced.

That’s why March hits different.

Colon cancer doesn’t always come with loud warning signs. It’s showing up in younger adults, especially in our community. But when caught early? Survival rates are high. 📈

A colonoscopy isn’t just a test — it’s prevention. It can find and remove polyps before they turn into cancer.

In her honor, I will keep talking about this. I will keep pushing for screenings. I will keep raising awareness.

Because early detection saves lives. 💙

Woods Work of Heart had the honor of closing out Heart Health Month by supporting the at their “Seconds in Red” fundraiser event — and babyyyy, it was EVERYTHING. ❤️

Heart disease is STILL the #1 cause of death in Americans — especially women… and even more specifically Black women. That’s why this work matters. Awareness isn’t optional in our community. It’s necessary. It takes ALL of us.

Thank you for such an amazing event — from the mini photoshoot 📸 to the beautiful floral class 💐 and powerful info shared by fellow community partners. Educating. Empowering. Elevating.

We’re outside for heart health — not just in February, but ALL year. ❤️🫀

Woods Work of Heart was honored to provide CPR certification training this weekend for ’s She Leads Workshop 🩷

Unlike some of our previous workshops focused on awareness, attendees took a deeper, hands-on dive into emergency preparedness and walked away CPR certified for the next 2 years — ready to confidently respond when it matters most.

This marks our 3rd collaboration together, and we’re prayerful for many more opportunities to educate and serve alongside such an impactful organization.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease claims the lives of 1 in 3 women — and it remains the leading cause of death for Americans overall. Numbers like that make this issue deeply personal, especially within Black and Brown communities where the impact is even greater.

Heart health starts with everyday choices. Which of these are you already doing… and which ones can you start today?

❤️ Control your blood pressure
❤️ Keep cholesterol and triglycerides in check
❤️ Maintain a healthy weight and limit foods high in sodium, sugar, and saturated fats
❤️ Stay active — regular movement strengthens your heart
❤️ Don’t smoke
❤️ Manage stress and prioritize your mental wellness

Small steps truly save lives. Take care of your heart so it can keep taking care of you. ❤️

During holiday celebrations, overdoses can be missed because the signs look like someone is just “too drunk,” asleep, or sick.

⚠️ Know the signs of an overdose:
• Slow or no breathing
• Blue or gray lips or fingertips
• Unresponsive to shouting or touch
• Gurgling or choking sounds

CPR and Narcan save lives — but only if people are prepared.

For the second year in a row, Woods Work of Heart 🩷 was honored to participate in the Jingle Jam—and what a blessing it was!

This season, we were able to bless FIVE amazing children with gift donations, spreading joy, love, and a little extra holiday magic 🎁🎄

We also continued growing our “Nation of Lifesavers” by providing:

🧠 Narcan education & training
🎒 FREE Narcan kits distributed to the community
