So much pressure is placed on reading, recognizing numbers, and identifying colors for kindergarten readiness, but those aren’t the most important skills for a 4 and 5 year old to possess in a classroom setting.
💡If a child has difficulty attending, they will have trouble learning.
💡If a child doesn’t understand social rules and lack social skills, they will have trouble following the routines in the classroom.
💡If a child is used to instant gratification and has difficulty regulating their emotions, they may have frequent breakdowns and tantrums in the classroom hindering the learning process.
Parents, be more concerned with fostering the foundational skills of learning and the academics will come a lot easier and will be stronger. 👍🏽
And just a hint, screens don’t teach attention, social skills, and emotional regulation. ❤️
Playing, interacting, engaging, talking and connecting builds those very critical social, emotional regulation, and attention skills/ the skills that need to be in place for real learning to happen. ❤️
