Hey! 👋🏽 Long time no talk! I know it’s been a while, but I’m still pushing hard behind the scenes for parents and little ones. Had incredible meetings on Capitol Hill. Got to meet with Jasmine Crockett and congressional leaders to advocate for the voiceless! I’m back and more content to come! ❤️

Enjoying Madrid! I love a change of scenery and especially if the change is going to a different country. I learn so much about other people which helps to widen my view of humanity.

The great thing about technology is that it has made life easier in so many ways.

Our phones have transformed the way we live and if we’re not careful, it can transform the way we build family.

No matter how advanced we became as a society, the brain is still built the same—through experiences and interactions.

A young developing brain needs tangible, meaningful experiences to build strong neural connections.

So as we outsource so much to our phones, don’t let it replace the precious time of playing, reading, and connecting with each other. ❤️

So much pressure is placed on reading, recognizing numbers, and identifying colors for kindergarten readiness, but those aren’t the most important skills for a 4 and 5 year old to possess in a classroom setting.

💡If a child has difficulty attending, they will have trouble learning.

💡If a child doesn’t understand social rules and lack social skills, they will have trouble following the routines in the classroom.

💡If a child is used to instant gratification and has difficulty regulating their emotions, they may have frequent breakdowns and tantrums in the classroom hindering the learning process.

Parents, be more concerned with fostering the foundational skills of learning and the academics will come a lot easier and will be stronger. 👍🏽

And just a hint, screens don’t teach attention, social skills, and emotional regulation. ❤️

Playing, interacting, engaging, talking and connecting builds those very critical social, emotional regulation, and attention skills/ the skills that need to be in place for real learning to happen. ❤️

Give me a 🙌🏾 if this was helpful!

Don’t overwhelm yourself with trends and comparisons.

There’s enough pressure that surrounds parenting.

If your child is reading at 3 years old, great but don’t feel like they need to.

Learning social, emotional, and language skills are far more important than academic skills for littles.

If your 3 year old knows how to play, they are doing just fine! 👌🏽

💡Every now and then I like to make a PSA 😜 👇🏽

Play is a child’s native language. Before they can

👶🏼 crawl
👶🏼 walk
👶🏼 talk
👶🏼run

A child naturally knows how to play. From the moment they are cooing, making faces, and kicking their little feet in the infant carrier, they are speaking the language of play. 🥰

Screens shouldn’t take the place of playing. It’s like taking your native language away. ❌

So you’re probably saying, “I don’t have time to think up a thousand play activities, the screen is just easier”.

It might be easier, but like all things that easier, it comes with a cost. 💸

It’s ok to get help, heck, it actually shows strength! 💪🏽 You don’t have to do this parenting thing alone! ❤️

I’ve got you! DM me if you want to make a small investment in your parenting and your child. 💡✨🌟

My play strategy framework will give you tips and strategies for screen alternatives and language building techniques that will increase child independence and reduce tantrums!

🚨🚨🚨 So I know the struggle is real when it comes to using screens. It’s helpful to turn in a screen and get a few chores done, get dinner ready or just get a breather for yourself. 😫

So screens of itself is not the enemy. Not having a plan or clear boundaries can be your enemy. 🛑

Our little ones are smart and they know how to get what want. 😍

With a plan in place, they can have structure around screens. And with structure, you will have calm! 🥰

Set a timer when screens will be used and your little one will do better when the screen has to be off. 👍🏽

If your schedule doesn’t allow for structured time, set a timer so your child has a visual boundary of when the screen will be off.

This will give you more peace than you know!

Let me know if you will use this tip! How do you handle screen time?
