The HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) was created by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) to respond to the needs of its members whose primary professional interest is HIV Medicine. HIVMA is pleased to announce the election of Anna K. Person, MD, FIDSA, as the new chair of its Board of Directors.

“I feel every day that what I do — caring for underserved populations and focusing on educating the next generation of leaders in the field — matters immensely,” said Dr. Person. “It’s my hope that my experiences as a clinician, advocate and leader will add to the life-changing work that is done by HIVMA.

In addition, a new vice chair, a new HIVMA representative to the IDSA Board and four new board members were elected to serve with Dr. Person:

🔹Alice C. Thornton, MD, FIDSA, will serve as vice chair.
🔹Michelle S. Cespedes, MD, MS, will serve as the HIVMA representative to the IDSA Board.
