April 2026 is Health Month at REACH for Uganda. We are launching a health improvement campaign to fund and sustain health programs and critical infrastructure improvements.

We operate two medical clinics that deliver basic medical care, malaria, pneumonia and tuberculosis treatment, HIV care, maternal health services, and health education that equips families, especially girls and young women, with practical knowledge to improve health outcomes.

REACH wants to upgrade the Beatrice Tierney clinic facilities, starting in Bupoto, where current delivery and inpatient rooms do not meet patient demand. These upgrades will expand capacity and enable specialty services, including dental, optometry, and ophthalmology. Dr. George Bwaya will continue to lead clinical operations in both clinics.

We have an offer from one of our donors who will match all contributions towards the improvements at the clinics in Bupoto and Bumwalukani. Each clinic requires approximately $200,000 to build and equip.

This month, the Bupoto clinic will launch dental services from a temporary facility at the clinic. Frank Khatete, the first dentist to graduate from the AAH program, will provide services ranging from cleanings to root canals.

REACH will also pilot an optometry program for students at its primary schools and Hawthorne-Scribner High School.

All donations support clinic improvements and service delivery. Matching funds apply to all infrastructure contributions or pledged annual contributions of over $10,000.

This year we completed 21 years of providing quality education, lifesaving healthcare, and community development initiatives to the people and children of rural eastern Uganda. We completed the first phase of construction of the Hawthorne - Scribner High School and opened it February 17, 2025, to students and held an official celebration opening on July 5, 2025, where we also opened the new Schoenbrun Science and Technology Building. We did that together! We are grateful to all our partners and donors.
As we close 2025, we ask you to help us meet our year-end goal by midnight December 31. All donation commitments large or small today and tomorrow will receive an incredible 400% matching from our matching donors.

Robert, once a student on REACH for Uganda program, is now an entrepreneur and legal expert helping small businesses navigate Ugandan law.

Sarah , an engineer with Total Energies Uganda, became the fourth female engineer on our program and now mentors young girls to pursue STEM careers.

John Joel , a teacher and former REACH scholar, is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Mathematics in Italy, hoping to bring new teaching models back to Uganda.

We are thrilled to congratulate all students, who graduated this year, and their sponsors on the journey they have travelled for many years from primary school all the way to university.

Among the students who graduated this December are: Bruno Noah Wamono and Emily Hillary Mukoya. Bruno was the first AAH student to participate in an internship for one year in Israel. He is grateful for the opportunity he was given through REACH. He speaks on behalf of others when he says thank you for the opportunity this program affords them.
Emily is our first female Environmental Engineer and joins others in her field to make a difference in our community, country and beyond.
