Most people think a urinary tract infection always causes burning with urination — but that isn’t always the case, especially for women after menopause.

UTIs can sometimes show up with symptoms like:• Sudden fatigue• Brain fog or confusion• Urinary urgency or leakage• Pelvic pressure

Hormonal changes after menopause can make UTIs more common and sometimes harder to recognize.

If something feels different or “off,” your Ob-Gyn can help evaluate symptoms and determine whether a UTI or another condition may be the cause.

March is National Women’s Month, a time to recognize the incredible role women play in their families and communities.

Many women manage the health of their entire household — scheduling appointments, asking questions, and making important care decisions. But too often, their own health gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

At Omega Ob-Gyn, we’re here to support women through every stage of life, from adolescence to pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. This month is a great reminder to check in on your own health, too.

Brooke Hillard, FNP-BC has dedicated her entire career to caring for women. After beginning as a Labor & Delivery nurse, she went back to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner so she could continue supporting women through every stage of life.

Brooke is especially passionate about mentoring and caring for younger women. As a former teen mom herself, she understands how important it is for young patients to have a provider who listens, supports them, and helps them feel confident about their health.

Today, Brooke provides compassionate, evidence-based care for women from adolescence through pregnancy, peri-menopause, and beyond.

Outside the clinic, Brooke enjoys working out, spending time with her family, and exploring new restaurants around the metroplex.

If you're looking for a provider who is passionate about women’s health and truly cares about her patients, Brooke would love to meet you.

Over the past few weeks, patients have experienced delays in having phone calls returned, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused. Your time and your care are incredibly important to us.

Several factors contributed to these delays, including the recent ice storm immediately followed by our transition to a new electronic medical record system. While this new system will ultimately help us serve you more efficiently, the transition has been much more challenging than we had anticipated and has slowed our communication processes temporarily.

Please know that our physician owners and leadership team are discussing this daily and actively working on solutions to better serve you. At this point, we have all hands on deck, returning every phone call as quickly as possible, and we have also hired additional staff to help improve response times moving forward.

If you have access to our new patient portal, we encourage you to use it whenever possible, as it is often the fastest way to communicate with our team. You can log in to the patient portal here: https://myhealthrecord.com/Portal/SSO or sign up here: https://form.jotform.com/260225337639156

If we return your call and miss you, we encourage you to send a message through the patient portal with your question or a good time to reach you. This helps us avoid phone tag and respond more efficiently.

When leaving a voicemail, please clearly state the name of your physician so we can ensure your message is routed to the correct team member as quickly as possible.
Omega Ob-Gyn is a small, locally owned practice, and we take your concerns seriously. Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your care. If you have left a message, please know that we will return your call.

We truly appreciate your understanding as we work to improve this process.

If you’re trying to get pregnant and feeling unsure about what to do next, your Ob-Gyn is a great place to start.

Your provider can review your medical history, discuss your cycle, and evaluate common factors that can affect fertility. In many cases, concerns such as ovulation issues, hormonal imbalances, or cycle irregularities can be evaluated and treated right in your Ob-Gyn’s office.

If more specialized care is needed, your Ob-Gyn can also coordinate referrals and work closely with a fertility specialist to make sure you receive the right support and care.

You don’t have to navigate fertility questions alone. Starting the conversation with your Ob-Gyn can help you understand your options and take the next step with confidence.

Some parents delay scheduling their daughter’s first Ob-Gyn visit because they worry it will involve a pelvic exam — but in most cases, it doesn’t.

A first visit is usually focused on helping teens feel comfortable asking questions and learning about their changing bodies. These appointments often include conversations about periods, cramps, hormonal changes, acne, mood changes, sports participation, and overall health. Physical exams are typically limited to basic wellness checks unless there is a specific medical concern.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends a first Ob-Gyn visit between ages 13–15, even if your teen is not sexually active. Early visits help establish a trusted healthcare relationship and give teens a safe place to learn about their health.

At Omega Ob-Gyn, our goal is to create a supportive, respectful environment where both parents and teens feel informed and at ease — every step of the way.
If you’re wondering whether it’s time to schedule your daughter’s first visit, our team is happy to help guide you.

During Black History Month, we’re honored to recognize the incredible providers who help shape compassionate, patient-centered care at Omega Ob-Gyn. Today, we’re celebrating two Nurse Practitioners whose dedication and expertise support women and families across our community every day.

DarNesha Clanton, FNP-C, WHNP-BC, is a valued member of Dr. Walker’s team, where she provides comprehensive women’s health care grounded in empathy, education, and trust. With more than 10 years of experience in labor and delivery and public health, DarNesha is especially passionate about adolescent health, STD prevention, and helping patients feel comfortable and confident discussing their care. Her goal is simple but powerful: to create a supportive environment where every woman feels heard and respected.

Rozy Okocha, FNP-C, serves alongside Dr. Reese-Holley’s team, bringing a holistic and wellness-focused perspective to women’s health. Her clinical background in critical and preventive care informs her thoughtful, evidence-based approach, while her natural compassion helps patients feel supported through every stage of their health journey. Rozy is dedicated to building trusting relationships that empower women to take an active role in their well-being.

We are grateful for the knowledge, leadership, and compassionate care they bring to Omega and to the patients who trust us with their health.

With so many options being talked about online — pellets, patches, injections, and more — it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure what’s truly best for your body.

The most important step isn’t following a trend. It’s having an informed conversation with your provider who knows your health history, your symptoms, and your goals.
Together, we can create a plan that’s safe, effective, and personalized for you.

If you’re curious about hormone therapy or wondering what options might be right for you, schedule a visit and let’s talk through it with your provider.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — and routine screening is the reason why. A Pap smear allows us to identify abnormal cells early, often long before they cause symptoms. When changes are caught early, we can monitor them or treat them promptly to protect your long-term health.

This quick appointment plays a powerful role in prevention. If it’s been a while since your last screening, let’s get you scheduled. Your future self will thank you.
