We’re excited to share that Omega has recently begun transitioning to a new medical record system! This upgrade will help our office run more efficiently and allow our providers to better support and care for our patients.

Today we proudly celebrate Dr. Melodi Reese-Holley in honor of Unicorn Day — National Black Women Physicians’ Day (officially on this Sunday, February 8th).

This day exists to recognize and uplift Black women physicians — a group that remains incredibly underrepresented in medicine (only about 2% of physicians are black women!), yet has made profound contributions to healthcare, advocacy, and patient care across generations.

February 8th was chosen in honor of Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, who became the first Black woman in the United States to earn a medical degree in 1864. Her courage and determination opened doors that had long been closed — and her legacy lives on through physicians like Dr. Reese-Holley today.

We celebrate Dr. Reese-Holley not only for her clinical excellence, but for the compassion, strength, and heart she brings to her patients. Today, we honor the legacy she stands on and the impact she continues to make every single day.

In addition to being the first black woman admitted to the American College of Surgeons in 1950, Dr. Dickens made lasting contributions to the Ob-Gyn field through her leadership in cervical cancer prevention, s*x education, and improving access to care for underserved women. At a time when these topics were often ignored, she advocated for preventive care, patient education, and dignity in women’s health.

During Black History Month, we honor her legacy and the foundation she helped build for compassionate, evidence-based Ob-Gyn care.
