March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Dr. Chris Dwyer, a colorectal surgeon on our medical staff, is reminding everyone that a colonoscopy can save lives.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early, and screening is the key. A colonoscopy can detect and remove polyps before they turn into cancer, giving patients the chance at staying healthy and cancer-free.

If you’re 45 or older — or have risk factors — now is the time to talk to your doctor and schedule your screening.

Don’t wait. Early detection saves lives. 💙

🍀 Spreading hope this St. Patrick’s Day 🍀

Today, we are incredibly proud of our team and community for showing up in a big way at our blood drive with . The generosity we witnessed is nothing short of inspiring.

Across the nation and right here in North Texas, hospitals face critical blood shortages every single day. Lives depend on the compassion of donors and the leadership of organizations willing to step forward in moments that matter most.

Through partnerships like this, real impact happens.
Since 1951 Carter BloodCare provides lifesaving blood to more than 200 hospitals across 50+ counties and distributes over 450,000 blood products each year to patients in need.

That means every donation made today has the potential to help trauma patients, surgical patients, cancer patients and even save multiple lives.

At USMD Hospital Arlington, we are proud to:
🍀Help ensure a stable, lifesaving blood supply
🍀Unite the Arlington community around a shared humanitarian mission
🍀Take action today to help save lives tomorrow

To everyone who donated, thank you for being the reason someone gets a second chance.

Dr. Dwyer completed the first single port transabdominal colectomy using the single port robot. USMD is the only hospitals in North Texas with two single port robots, allowing surgeons to perform complex procedures through a single incision. This can mean less pain, fewer scars, shorter hospital stays, and a faster recovery. Congratulations to Dr. Dwyer and the USMD team for their part in bringing surgical innovation to our community.

🎉 Another surgical milestone at USMD Hospital!

Yesterday, Dr. Christopher Dwyer, a physician on the medical staff at USMD Hospital and colorectal surgeon with Texas Oncology, performed our first single-port transabdominal colectomy using advanced robotic technology.

USMD Hospital is the only hospital in North Texas with two single-port robotic systems, allowing surgeons to perform complex procedures through a single small incision. For patients, that can mean less pain, fewer scars, shorter hospital stays, and a faster recovery.

We’re proud of Dr. Dwyer and the team for their part in bringing leading-edge surgical innovation to our community.

Meet Dr. Adam Hollander, a urologist at Urology Partners of North Texas, and physician on the medical staff at USMD Hospital at Arlington. Dr. Hollander discusses single port robotic surgery using the DaVinci SP system. Our hospital was the first in North Texas to offer this innovative technology and now we’ve become one of the busiest centers in the country for this type of surgery. Single port robotic surgery is used for various urological procedures including prostate surgery, kidney surgeries, and cancer treatment. The key benefits patients experience: faster recovery times, quicker return to normal function, reduced catheter time, and overall greater satisfaction compared to traditional multi-port surgery.
