Hey Everybody!
I wanted to let you know that my latest procedure went very well. I was only in the hospital for one day and then went home the next afternoon. It's amazing what is possible these days. Especially when robots and lasers are involved in the process along side some very capable human guidance. I'm simply relaxing at home currently while the brief recovery continues. Feeling very balanced and thankful for a successful brain surgery. It's a reminder that every day is a blessing :)

I hope everyone has been well. I've really been missing that quality time I was once spending with my clients. Some of you I've been working with for many years now, and I'm looking forward to being back in the office around the beginning of May and seeing you all again.

Until then, be well. Take care not to push yourself too much. These can be stressful times for many reasons. We will all make it work.

So here is the last week until my surgery!
It's been a winding road to get this far, but it's been made possible by your contributions. I am eternally grateful for everyone's help during this process.
Since 2008 I've been navigating the various impacts of epilepsy. It redirected my life path in so many different ways. If there is a chance I am able to find a more grounded balance moving forward, I will take that as a blessing.

Hey Everybody!
I hope you're doing as well as possible amidst all of this snow and uncertainty in the world.

Thank you so much for your support of my personal health and well being. Somehow it feels appropriate that the healer receives healing :)

I wanted to let you know that we finally have a date set for the last phase of my neurosurgery. On March 20th I'll be receiving a laser ablation procedure at Beth Israel. I should be able to leave the hospital the following day :)

However, since the timing of the procedure was pushed back a bit, I decided to continue to sublet the office through April. I'll be returning to the practice on May 1st!

Wow, today was the first follow up with my neurosurgeon, and we spoke about the results of my last scan/surgery. He had taken the results to a conference as well, so there have been a few cooks in this kitchen. The results came back with a good number of data points and options to consider.

The short version: the right hemisphere of my brain is still the problematic region that's causing my seizures. Both the superficial region as well as a deeper area. Two approaches can be taken. 1: A lobectomy involving the removal of a small piece of my right parietal lobe. 2: A fiber laser procedure that basically inserts small fibers into the problematic regions and gives them a little zap. The advantage being that the brain is put under far less strain and if it doesn't work I can always go for option 1 afterwards.

I told my neurosurgeon that I would be more in favor of the fiber laser approach. The estimated recovery time would be around 2 weeks (if all goes well). Recovery time for the full surgery option would be around 2 months. The start time of either of these procedures would still be about 1 month away from now.

So, now I have some thinking to do as to which path to take. I've been so blessed to have the support of everyone through my Gofundme page. There is more work to do, but I can see the progress being made. I'm working with a great team at Beth Israel, and they have all been very helpful in this process.

I look forward to seeing my massage clients again. I'm hoping all of the pieces align so that I'm able to return to my studio sooner rather than later.

On that note, thanks again for all of your help everyone. It takes a lot to deal with one's own well being. Especially when the mind is involved.

Happy New Year everyone!
I wanted to thank all of my wonderful clients for all of the work we've done together and your support during my time of healing. I'm looking forward to the path ahead. I've been feeling great! I have a follow up with my medical team on the 13th and I'll know more about which steps are available to me. I'll keep everyone posted about how everything is going :)

Hey everyone,
the procedure at Beth Israel went very well. The scan went on for about 10 days, and now I'm back home resting, with initial instructions to not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk :) At least for a few days anyway.

Now that was the scan to determine exactly which area of my brain needs some precise repair. It will be a few weeks before we have the data. I just wanted to let everyone know that it was a success and I'm feeling good. It's already been a transformational experience. I'll be sure to let you know how things are progressing.

I've even been talking with another therapist who may be subletting the space while I'm away, which will be helpful. I'll be sure to let the community know how things are going once I'm back home. Continuing to feel very grateful for everyone that has been able to contribute to my upcoming medical recovery, as well as all of my massage therapy clients that have been booking sessions through the rest of the month.
