Dear Residents and Families,

As we look ahead to the potential winter weather expected this weekend, we want to share an update on how our team is preparing to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents.

Please know that we are actively monitoring weather conditions and are fully in planning mode. While forecasts can change, our priority is to be prepared for all scenarios.

Staffing & Care Coverage
We have proactively scheduled both primary and backup team members, including care and dining staff, to remain in the community throughout the weekend if needed. Team members will begin overnight stays starting this evening to ensure consistent care and support. At this time, staffing coverage is strong and not a concern.

Supplies & Resident Needs
Our community is well stocked with food, water, snacks, medications, and essential supplies to support residents throughout a winter weather event.

Power Outage Preparedness
While power outages are always a possibility during severe winter weather, our community is equipped with a generator to support critical systems, including heat, lighting in key areas, and essential operations.

In the unlikely event of an outage, our team will continue to take every necessary step to ensure residents remain safe, warm, and comfortable. Prepared measures include:
· Frequent wellness checks, with staff conducting regular rounds
· Flashlights available for residents, with lanterns and emergency lighting in common areas
· Alternative call systems available should normal systems be disrupted
· Backup portable oxygen supplies secured through providers for residents who require them

As an added precaution, our team will ensure residents are dressed warmly and provided with additional layers as needed.

How Families Can Help
We kindly ask families to consider bringing:
· Extra warm clothing (sweaters, sweatshirts, thermal layers)
· Additional blankets or throws labeled with your loved one’s name

Staying Connected During a Weather Event
During severe weather events, our on-site team’s top priority is attending to the immediate needs and safety of our residents. As a result, response times to phone calls may be delayed.

We will share timely updates through Caremerge/ICON, which will serve as our primary communication channel during this time. We encourage families to monitor the app for updates and important information.

If you have not yet set up Caremerge/ICON or need assistance accessing the app, please reach out to the community prior to Friday, so we can ensure you are connected before the weekend.

Optional Weekend Plans
If you have concerns about weather conditions or potential power disruptions, you are welcome to take your loved one home for the weekend. Should you choose to do so, please coordinate with the community team to sign them out and obtain any necessary medications.

What a fantastic time we had at Cedarhurst of Arnold’s 2026 Chili Cook-Off! 🌶️
Thank you to everyone who cooked, tasted, voted, and helped make the event such a success. The chili was amazing, the competition was fierce, and the community spirit was even better. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🏆

Evenings in the Gardens are something special!
Our residents have been enjoying fun nighttime activities — from purposeful activities to games and laughter to peaceful strolls and great conversations. It’s amazing to see the joy, connection, and memories being made after the sun goes down.
Shout out also goes to our amazing Gardens staff that know the importance of socialization even at night!
