I often talk with patients wanting to improve their acne scarring. Simply put, improving any type of scarring is tough and takes patience for both patient and provider. It takes multiple modalities and approaches over multiple treatment sessions to make a significant difference in tissue that has been damaged by inflammation over many years. When I set goals for success, I talk about a 40-50% improvement each time. For acne scarring, 40-50% each time is 100% success. Patients often ask what it will look like after one treatment so I decided to share these photos showing what the improvement looks like after one treatment. This patient underwent surgical subcision, followed microdroplet filler restoration, and finished off with a deep laser resurfacing. The after photos show her at 6 weeks post-treatment. We will likely pursue another treatment in the future to get another 40-50% improvement but she was very happy with the results so far. Healing after treatments like this takes close to 6 months to get the final result but she is well on her way to a great result.
