Did you know that Colorado Visiting Nurse Association and Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver are the local partners behind Community Aging in Place – Advancing Better Living for Elders (CAPABLE), which provides medical consultations and home repairs to improve comfort and mobility for low-income homeowners?

Maria’s story, featured in a recent edition of the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver newsletter, demonstrates how this program helps seniors stay safe and healthy in their own homes.

Lonni, a Colorado native, senses that her new Habitat home in Denver’s Cole neighborhood represents the start of a new chapter in her home state.

A small step toward safety can make a big difference.

This MedicAlert Awareness Month, we’re sharing the importance of Medical IDs in emergencies.

They can communicate life-saving details, such as allergies, medications, or chronic conditions, to first responders, providing peace of mind for patients and their families.

For Megan Lumpkins, home health is about trust, independence, and connection.

As a dedicated member of our Colorado VNA home health team, Megan helps patients stay safe and independent at home through fall prevention, personalized care plans, and close collaboration with families. She shares, “It’s incredibly rewarding to support patients where they’re most comfortable.”

Megan also values the balance Colorado VNA provides: the freedom to manage her caseload with the support of a compassionate, responsive team always behind her.

A legacy 136 years in the making…

Founded in 1889, Colorado Visiting Nurse Association began as a grassroots effort to bring nursing care to Denver’s underserved neighborhoods during a time of urgent public health need.

Since then, we’ve grown into Colorado’s oldest and largest nonprofit home healthcare agency, serving thousands through home health, hospice, palliative, and wellness care across the Front Range.

As we reflect on our past, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and deeply grateful for the communities we’ve had the privilege to serve.

Enjoy a few incredible photos from our early years.

Tomorrow we celebrate the 4th of July—and give thanks to the veterans who’ve made our independence possible.

At CVNA, we’re proud to offer home health and hospice care designed to support veterans with dignity and compassion. Our teams are trained to recognize service-related health needs and tailor care to reflect each individual’s story.

To our veterans: we see you, we thank you, and we’re honored to care for you.

Don’t miss this powerful new documentary!

Join us in watching “Caregiving,” a moving new film produced by Bradley Cooper and narrated by award-winning actress Uzo Aduba, premiering Tuesday, June 24 at 7 p.m. MT on PBS and the PBS YouTube Channel.

We’re proud that our very own Amanda Goodenow from Colorado Visiting Nurse Association was invited to speak on a panel at a VIP screening of the documentary in April, where she shared thoughtful insights on the realities and rewards of caregiving.

This film brings attention to the deeply personal stories of caregivers across the country — stories that reflect the compassion and resilience we witness every day through our own care teams. 💙

Save the date and tune in to honor the heart of caregiving.
