5 Things girls and women should know about their uterus and often don’t:
1. The uterus doubles in size just before menstruation.
2. The uterus is held in place by many ligaments and it can be thrown off center from a bad fall, by lifting something very heavy, from trauma and abuse, from abdominal adhesions and from high impact exercise. Often when the uterus moves off center, it will stay off center until guided back. During that time off center congestion of the surrounding tissue will occur and pain will increase due to having to work harder.
3. The uterus can be gently guided back to center with a simple massage technique called Maya abdominal massage.
4. Individuals can apply a shorter version of this massage to themselves to maintain strong healthy ligaments and optimal blood circulation of the abdomen and pelvis therefore promoting a centered position of the uterus.
5. Pain, dysfunction and invasive medical measures can often be avoided with the use of this massage.
This massage has also been great for relieving and improving IBS, constipation, fertility challenges, improving labor and birth outcomes and more.
