Sobriety isn't about just not using substances, it's about forging a new identity that is in alignment with your true self.

When I was using, I would be at the liquor store at 8am. In my sobriety journey, I show up to the gym at 8am. I choose temporary discomfort and challenge to feel amazing for the day, rather than use a substance that makes me feel temporarily great and horrible for the rest of the day.

If we want to change our habits, the people, places and things that fuel our environment matter. Choose to stay surrounded by people and things that inspire and challenge you. What can you do today, even a small thing, that is a challenge instead of an escape?
