Connecting Communities Through Digital Literacy!

The Givens Communities Philanthropy Team joined residents at Givens Great Laurels for a computer class led by Charles, a Digital Navigator from Haywood Community College. Thanks to HCC’s grant-funded Digital Navigator Program, residents receive hands-on training in internet basics, email, and online safety—and each participant gets their own laptop to keep!

Programs like this empower older adults with confidence, independence, and lifelong learning. When you support Givens’ Future and Innovation impact area, you help bring resources and opportunities like these to our communities.

We’re excited to share a wonderful update from our Givens Estates Woodworkers.

This year, our team handcrafted and donated approximately 600 wooden toys to the Apple Woodworking Group, which then distributes these toys to 11 partner agencies throughout the community.
One of those partner agencies is ELA Homes.

In the photo, you can spot several of our donated toys on their display table, including the small wooden cars made right here on our campus.

You’ll also see Mark, the Toy Project Director for the Apple Woodworking Group, proudly holding a selection of the toys our residents created.

We’re grateful for the generosity, talent, and heart our woodworkers pour into each piece. Their craftsmanship brings joy to children across Western North Carolina.

Today our community comes together for the first-ever Swannanoa Valley Career Fair.Meet employers, discover new opportunities, and connect with partners who believe in our valley.

Thursday, December 11th. 10 AM to 2 PM. Valley Hope Church, 115 Rockdale Ave, Swannanoa.

Help us spread the word so our neighbors can discover new pathways and support.
