Even if your to-do list is already a mile long, I think you might have room on there to add “book myself a massage”.

Calling all desk workers, tattoo artists, hair stylists, and anyone else who ends up with achy or fatigued hands by the time you finish work! Are you warming up properly? 👀

If not, try the upper body warm-up that I use every work day! ✨bonus points if you do these exercises on your days off as well✨

I recommend trying 4-6 reps of each (in each direction). Some of these look simple, but you’ll definitely start to feel the burn!

Try it out this week and let me know what you think in the comments below! Did you notice a difference in your work day? 👇

This claim has never been proven in any meaningful way and is incredibly misleading. There are currently no studies that suggest that typical massage techniques flush toxins from your tissues.

I’m sure that this myth was started with good intentions and served to validate the use of massage treatments at some point, but modern studies have identified so many other, legitimate benefits to bodywork that we can now prove.

Like how it helps modulate the nervous system.
Or how it can decrease perceived pain.
And how massage can reduce your fight or flight response and lower stress markers.
Or how it can temporarily impact local circulation and fluid distribution.
And how massage can change muscle tone and guarding patterns.

Pretty cool, huh?

We’re learning more and more that, as body workers, we’re mostly influencing your nervous system and helping with physiological regulation, not “cleaning” your bloodstream.

Let’s leave the detoxing to your liver, kidneys, lungs and GI system the way that your physiology intended.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t want to work with just anyone. Like most business owners, when I first started out, I would bend over backwards to have literally anyone work with me. But over time I’ve learned my business runs better and my clients end up happier when I set specific boundaries. Here are some things that disqualify someone from being a good fit for me.

• Questioning my policies - All of my policies are in place to protect myself as well as my clients. They are non-negotiable and every client must sign off on them before coming in for treatment.

• Saying I’m too expensive - I get it, times are tough for a lot of people, myself included. However, I price myself fairly for my expertise and experience. My pricing isn’t the issue, bodywork just can’t always be a priority in everyone’s budget. While I’m always open to bartering, I’m not in the position to work for free or partial pay, so please don’t ask that of me.

• Disrespect/Bigotry - In case it wasn’t clear, myself and therefore, my business, will always support BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, and houseless individuals. Hateful speech, slurs, or actions of any kind, especially those directed at marginalized communities, will not be tolerated anywhere near me or my practice. If you can’t respect that, do not book with me.

• Requesting modalities that I don’t offer - There’s nothing wrong with having preferences. However, my business is based off of my education and expertise and my treatment options reflect that. I promise that there are plenty of skilled massage therapists out there that offer what you’re looking for.

• Frequent rescheduling - I have a cancellation policy set in place, but what about those repeat offenders that continually cancel/reschedule just outside of the 24 hour window? I do my best to be understanding of my client’s personal lives and busy schedules, however, I do not wish to work with anyone who doesn’t value my time and energy.

If you’ve made it through the list and none of these apply to you, GREAT! I hope that I get the chance to work with you soon! Book your appointment at the link in my bio

I do my best to create an environment of safety and comfort for all of my clients. My goal is to make friends with your nervous system so that it will allow me to do my best work. That means making reasonable accommodations for your comfort and creating a relaxing environment.

It’s important that you know that all of your concerns as well as your goals are at the forefront of my treatment plans. So while there may be more conversation up front than other massage experiences you may have had, it’s for good reason. I believe that great bodywork requires collaboration.

Let’s work together to meet your goals! Book your appointment at the link in my bio

“Perfect posture” doesn’t really exist. But some postures do put unnecessary pressure on our bodies. Being consistent and using the right information to train that mind-muscle connection is what’s actually going to make a difference.
