Every birth story is unique.🤰 For some moms, it may involve cesarean delivery, also known as a C-section. Doctors perform this major abdominal surgery for a variety of reasons, often related to complications during pregnancy or delivery. If you’re expecting a baby, it’s important to understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. For example, having a C-section increases the chance that you will need a C-section for future deliveries.

Yesterday, our NICU celebrated Dr. Seuss Day with our tiniest cats in hats! Our sweet babies were rocking their Seuss-inspired outfits, reminding us that even the smallest stars can shine so bright.

This day was filled with smiles, snuggles and a whole lot of heart. We are so grateful for our dedicated NICU and Family Support Network team and the families who trust us with their most precious treasures. Thank you to Preemies of the Carolinas for treating these little ones to outfits, hats, and blankets to make this an extra special day.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the US — but recovery and prevention are possible.

At Mission Hospital’s Intensive Cardiac Rehab program in Asheville, patients are rebuilding their lives through nutrition education, stress management, exercise and even hands-on cooking classes. These skills can make the difference in a person's recovery after a cardiac event and quality of life while living with heart disease.
